Nice sweet story though I do have a couple of criticisms

First it is side "effects" not "affects".

Second, I don't think that Simon and Inara would use slang the way you had them use it in the kitchen discussion - both are very proper and educated. Just something to remember for the future.

Other than that, this was a really intriguing story. It is interesting to see how you had Mal deal w/ a situation in which something happened but no one would say what. I don't know if Simon would have been as sanguine to just let Jayne off like that though if he really thought he did something.

But a very nice read. Keep it up.
