Wonderfully insightful and 'deep' assessment of Soujiro's character. The line:

"The two conflicting ideas contrasted in his mind, making him a human being once more. For what is humanity but a the state of confusion, the never-ending and eternally unfulfilled quest for answers?"

was my favorite. You portrayed Soujirou's move from concrete type reasoning to higher level thinking quite dramatically. It's rare to see such intelligent writing on ffdotnet! Good job!

Wow! This was so well written. I like the segment breaks and how every piece starts off with the same sentence-very original, which I seem to be looking for nowadays. The spelling, grammar, and spacing is good (there's nothing worse than screwing up these three, the basics of a good story, other than plot).

All in all, you did a good job, and you did capture the spirit of Soujiro!

PS: In the second segment, you were talking about the assassination of Okubo, correct? If so, Soujiro plunges the knife into Okubo's forehead, not his heart. :D I will forever be a Soujiro fanatic.
