I really love this! I'm confused what is Dean sick with? Can you believe that you wrote this around nine years ago? Thats awesome.
Marsha Mallo chapter 3 . 9/14/2014
That's why we love these kind of stories, desperate, terrible events, bring out the best and the worst in us, but the stoic crumble and truth spills out all over us. I've seen it happen - used to be a nurse and later admitting clerk ... had a front row seat to the breakdowns of the tough guy mask many, many times. This kind of stuff may seem ooc, but I've seen it up close and personal. It is so REAL,
Marsha Mallo chapter 2 . 9/14/2014
Good story...only one thing. How many folks reading this...or writing this wonderful story understand the following - (1) sawed off shotguns DO NOT USE BULLETS; they use buckshot - buckshot at close range - which is what sawing off the barrel results in - short range, tight pattern, hugh damage center mass of what you are aiming at; the idea of loading the gun's shells with salt is for the injury to be 'non-lethal', but will leave a long lasting and very painful mark. At close range it could potentially still penetrate the skin, so my hubby looked at me tonight and said, "That close and enough force to knock him thru the wall? I think that round to the chest might have killed him!" I don't know for certain one way or the other, but as someone who was actually shot with rock salt from a sawed off shotgun when I was a kid (don't ever be stupid enough to take a dare and trespass on an angry old guys land from one of your older brothers.) I couldn't sit down for weeks without tears running down my face and the whole point (in this case) of the salt? Salt still cuts the skin and the old adage about torture being rubbing salt in a wound is true and the pain it causes really is torture.

Ooh great stuff! I've not long found this fic and loved it. But PLEZE tell me, what is wrong with Dean? I read and re-read the last chapter but I didn't get it. Put me out of my misery (preferably by writing a follow-up! heh heh!)

EFW chapter 6 . 4/13/2007
I know you posted this a while ago - but I just ran across it and had to tell you that I loved it. It had so many great layers. Sam's anger when he realized what he'd done was well written and filled with delicious angst, as was Dean's guilt for letting Sam down. So Dean. I loved all the medical stuff and Dean freaking out at the hospital, and having to be sedated for his own good. You covered everything that needed to be covered after that episode - and you did it splendidly!
