Very tongue-in-cheek. I can't tell you how many stories I've read with these plots as their premise. Your satirical wit was lost on some though considering that they were asking to write stories based on these very cliches...kinda ironic. Oh well, maybe they were able to turn them into something fabulously interesting and unexpected despite that...not holding my breath though;)
