Reviews for Survival Course
elsiek chapter 4 . 8/7/2017
This was a fun story. I liked the character development. Thank you.
ShiningAngelEyes chapter 6 . 12/4/2015
I love just about everything about this. All the groups, the characterization, the scenario itself and of course the Shep whump. You have no idea how much I freaked out when I looked for fanfiction of Stargate Atlantis and stumbled across your account... again. You've been my favorite author since "One of those Days" and I am so looking forward to all of your SGA stories. You don't ever disappoint because you hit all the right buttons. I love reading your fanfics! I'm such a huge fan of you!
Blood Zephyr chapter 6 . 5/23/2010
-.- ...I think you're forgetting about the episode "Sunday". Carson was the surgeon in that one. And he wouldn't be CMO unless he had some experience in most of the fields of medicine. He has his specialties on top of regular fields of study.
hajimebassaidai chapter 6 . 5/14/2010
I loved the interaction between the characters and that Radek made such a good leader. I take your point about Carson being able to do anything, all scientists are just as bad on TV and I frequently laugh my backside off at what computers do in non-sci-fi shows!
Jinxauthor Mel chapter 6 . 12/4/2008
I liked this story, but I'm rather disappointed in the ending. Yes, I realize it was Shep-whump, but it didn't read much as Shep-centric; rather I got most involved in Rodney's group – so I was very surprised that after all, no one even mentioned his success.

I mean, surely *someone* should have at least *commented* on the fact that not only did Rodney get his whole team through unscathed, but his team was the only one to make it at all. Not even his own team, the real or temporary one, said anything. *pout*

Care to write a sequel? Seeing as how, you know, Sheppard *does* have to do the course again?

PS: Did you give Radek the ATA gene in this? You mentioned him reading the detector …
bexh1 chapter 6 . 7/10/2008
This is a great story one of my favourite Atlantis fics. The charactors were well written and i loved the shep whump.
ferryboat George chapter 6 . 5/26/2008
I didn't notice anything particularly off about Kate, but I don't pay much attention to her on the show :P They have to have some type of surgeon on Atlantis, as shown in Coup D'etat but he might have come in second season when they figured out how much medical they'd need. I still think it's logical for them to have had one first season, but who knows. The story was great as usual. I know how bad a ruptured spleen can be, as we had a girl on our property who was giving my brother (two at the time) a ride on her horse when they were thrown off. My dad insisted we call 911, which was good because she had ruptured her spleen, which is the first time I'd heard of the organ.
ditraveler chapter 6 . 2/9/2007
This was really good I loved it! so good in fact I neglected getting ready for class an now I'm late!

Thanks for the entertainment you are a fantastic story teller!
Twinchy chapter 6 . 1/29/2007
Interesting story, well written. Nice follow-up to ‘The Defiant One’.

I especially liked the parts with McKay taking his team to safety on the survival course and Zelenka proving to be a capable leader himself. The team exercise itself was a good idea, too.
saclateri chapter 6 . 12/28/2006
oh, good stuff. There were just so many things to enjoy about this, I'm not sure where to start. The whole premise is an excellent one, and the mix of teams I liked especially - Zelenka being an astute leader, Heightmeyer being a subtle psychologist and Kavanagh just being Kavanagh. All very well in character. And then some nice old-fashioned Shep whump that I will always approve of. Good for Carson for getting his revenge as well.

And I agree that Atlantis *needs* more than just one super-doctor. Thank you for adding it in too.
nightfynix chapter 6 . 12/19/2006
YAY! loved it! this was so good!

great story and beckettis SO evil, but Kavanaugh TOTALLY deserved it... oh and if I was Ford, i would have shot Kavanaugh where he stood if he had disrespected my commander like that... BLAM, right between the eyes... heh heh... wow, that was violent.

lol, anyway, I LOVED IT!
spacesplace chapter 6 . 12/5/2006
Great story as usual! As a very "experienced" (but not old!) R.N. of over 30 years, I don't find your explanations "too dry"; actually, you are right on the money with the reality vs. Hollywood version of most things medical. Your assumption that there would be specialists is a given; can you see Beckett or Biro doing dentistry? As for checking out some of your other stories- that too is a given! You are always worth reading so please don't become "perfect"; because that would mean no more "practice" and I do want to read more!
Autumn leaves chapter 6 . 12/4/2006
I only just finished reading this story and all I can same is 'awesome'! It was an excellent, enjoyable and funny tale! Such a great idea of a survival course given to the guys! I am impressed by your medical terminology! Thanks for sharing.
Ellex chapter 6 . 12/4/2006
Excellent story. The idea of the survival course was an excellent one, and I enjoyed the composition of the teams very much.

I've seen that Doctor Who movie - the scene you mention kind of threw me, too! You wouldn't think it would take more than a minute or two to get the ballgown off and put on scrubs, would you?
Delka chapter 6 . 12/4/2006
Well explained. Now if someone out there could write story explaining the surgery part in that much detail (ok one person did-wish I could find that story!), I'd be very happy. Loved the story and again didn't see the ending coming. Nice tie up with it.
