OH ! this 's really GOOD ! I liked it so much...I liked how in a one shot short space you got to paint those PERFECT image of their characters. Amazing job..

You gave the image and feelings of both worlds: One, the "present" is a LOVE scene... both of them defenseless , vulnerable in the aftermath... the way in which Gibb's thinking is giving up to doubts and regrets is very "him". You found the perfect NEXUS between them in the gun and this is the central object of your fic. The gun represents the outside life of them, their work, the unforgivable professional world.
