Reviews for The Way Things Were
Thebluetrainstation chapter 1 . 7/10/2017
This was lovely.
ForeverMrs.Padfoot chapter 1 . 9/23/2012
aww for some reason this fic makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.. missing the marauders, havent read a fic about them in a while.

and I want Sirius! or Remus hmm decisions decisions (James belongs to Lily :P )
8ami chapter 1 . 2/22/2010
That was great! I usually don't read the fics centered around the Prank because it doesn't sound believable but I got to say I'm really glad I choose to read this. It's wonderfully believable and written beautifully.
Siriusmunchkin chapter 1 . 10/13/2009
Very well written. Reads much like I think they all would have reacted. Especially Sirius suggesting they go out and get drunk. I'm betting he would have thought it would loosen Remus up and let him say what he was really thinking about the whole thing. And it worked.
froth-onion chapter 1 . 8/13/2009
The first thing i was struck with when i started reading this story was the atmosphere that was created - tense, suspenseful, evocative. Your writing is fluent and assured enough that the tone was carried through - in fact the entire story was done very well. It also helped to explain for me the bond between remus and sirius (which confused me for a while, since james and sirius seem much better friends). Gosh, I am finding it difficult to express what i want to say, but I just really like this story and am favouriting it. It is nearly canon for me! Good work.
sapphiretwin369 chapter 1 . 7/22/2009
This is really good! I've always wondered about that story. I mean, I wouldn't think that Remus would just forgive Sirius for what he did. I like how he tried to let it go but just couldn't. And I'm glad he punched Sirius too. I think he deserved it. I think you wrote both of them really well. I could picture them reacting the way they did.
Robinhood304 chapter 1 . 11/21/2008
This is really good, but I don't know if boys would talk about their feelings for one another like this (the parchment in detention). Then again Remus is a more sensitive character...
MySite chapter 1 . 10/5/2008
A well written fic capturing the marauders perfectly.
Dangling.Radishes chapter 1 . 7/4/2008
That was so in character and truly believable that i can't help but wonder if you know them all personally... Just kidding.

Seriously though, this is the sort of fic that everyone strives to write and so many others strive to find and read!

Well done!
PaperPandas chapter 1 . 3/28/2008
Written with a quality that's way to hard to find on this site.

Thank you for gracing us mear readers with it p.

Looking forward to reading more of your work.
5redroses chapter 1 . 2/14/2008
I've read quite a few versions of this scenario and this is definitely one of, if not the best.
Violin Ghost chapter 1 . 1/28/2008
That was a beautifully written story, well-imagined and so... real. :)
MBP chapter 1 . 1/27/2008
Wonderful wonderful wonderful. The characterization seems just about perfect to me, and I never really thought before about what this incident would have done to their friendship. I wish there were more, but this made me happy (thankfully for the ending).
Soap1 chapter 1 . 1/7/2008
"Sirius’ chair scraped along the floor as he got to his feet, throwing his arms wide. “Well come on then,” he shouted."

Very vivid imagery there, and just how I would imagine Sirius to behave in that situation.

Excellent.
Cassandra's Cross chapter 1 . 12/7/2007
Wow. This was spectacularly good. For some reason I never thought of this incident from Remus's POV, because it seemed to be more about James-Sirius-Snape, but the way you write it I can definitely see this would have been terribly hurtful for Remus. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of James, to see whatever complex emotions might have motivated him to do what he did. I realize you wrote this before DH came out, but I would love to see a post-DH version of this story from James's POV as I have a feeling Lily's friendship with Snape might have had something to do with his actions. I also believe there was a a basic core of decency in James and I'd be fascinated to see your take on Remus's reaction to what James did. Have you ever considered writing something that focuses more on Remus's friendship with James? That would be interesting, though with all the projects you've got going on, I'm sure you don't need more. Anyway, this is another one that's gong on my favorites list. Well done!
