You said that you wrote this quickly, and honestly, I think it actually made it better. Having your brother bleeding to death on a hotel bed wouldn't make for a steady stream of cognitive thought, I don't think, and there's a panicked sort of feeling as you read. :3

One thing I would like to mention, though - and this is just the nitpicker in me, it didn't impede the story's quality at all - is that arterial bleeds are a bit more complicated to stitch. I'm not sure if I read correctly, but it looked like Dean stitched the outside layer of skin in attempt to stop the blood flow. However, all that would do is either allow the blood to continue flowing internally, or it would eventually pop the stitches.

Anyway, standard procedure for a bleed like that would call for a tourniquet to stem the blood flow. Next, the removal of blood clots. In most cases, if no more than two inches of the artery have been lost, a hairsbreadth-thin thread is used to sew together the outer, tougher coat of the artery without entering the inner lining.

Like I said, though, this is just me being a nitpick and offering creative criticism. Having Dean actually go through that whole process would probably take away from the that urgent feeling I liked so much about this story. I figured that this might be some good knowledge to have for future fics, though, given the love of Sam!whump (I swear to God I'm not a sadist, I don't understand why hurt/comfort is so appealing T_T).

Well even though I had a to skip a couple of paragraphs - I'm mega-squeamish when it comes to realistic gore! - this was a great little story. I don't think Dean really did think through what he was doing, the effect his sacrifice would have on Sam. Even after he'd experienced the same thing with John. I love the idea that maybe Sam won't be able to survive without Dean, because I think we always think of Sam as the independent capable member of the family, the one who CAN survive on his own. But with Dad AND Dean gone, I think you're right - no way he'd be able to just pick up the pieces of his old life and move on.

Great story (apart from the trickly red stuff!)

Gosh, that was just...awesome. The emotion and passion you threw in there was unvelievable, well really believable cos I felt like I was standing next to Dean, it seemed so real! That was truly amazing. Please write more :) Hurt sammy more, make him have an infection, or get really sick- I LOVE seeing Dean take care of his baby bro! It is so sweet.
