Reviews for The Traveler in Black meets Harry Potter
Marcus Rowland chapter 1 . 2/22
Excellent - John Brunner couldn't have done it better (though I suspect that he would have been even more sarcastic about the Wizarding World). I think this is the first Traveller in Black fanfic I've seen, maybe not surprising since he's total overkill for most fandoms. Adding to my favourites.

Yep, be careful of what you wish for. You just might get it.

I like the fact that Harry is content, in the end. I never believed that Harry could be content with most of the people he surrounded himself with in Canon.

Seemed a bit chaotic to me but, then, I never read anything about this "Traveler in Black" before. I guess there's sonething to be said for the proverbial "beast you know." Had it not been so short I would have quit around the halfway point.

Give me Duneulos' expanded saga of "The Lone Traveler." and the shorter collection of "Mr. Black" stories by Rohrshach's Blot, et al. Some lines should never be crossed.

Very quirky and interesting! Thank you for this unique story.

I've read this before, when I was going through a (very) brief Traveller in Black phase. (TiB was too dark for me.) I enjoyed your story then and I still enjoy it now.

I think what I love most about it is just the little side-mention that lycanthropy is curable if you only look at it scientifically. Harry's learnt his lesson well. To wit: don't think like a wizard, because illogic gets you screwed if you say it around the Traveller.

Good thinking story and I agree

"Oh, that I receive the respect and obedience I deserve!" Dumbledore had thrown his head back and proclaimed his desire to the skies.

Oopsie! I guess Dumbledore doesn't subscribe to the "be careful what you wish for" caution ... especially if you are not as wonderful as you think you are. His problem, IMHO, was that he already enjoyed far more respect and obedience than he deserved. So when he was cut to the level he actually did deserve, which was very little, he simply couldn't handle it. When The Traveler stripped away whatever illusions or compulsions were keeping the general public in awe of Dumbledore - and the blinders fell away - people saw him as he really was: a narcissistic old man, demanding, spoiled, manipulative, cashing in on past glories, and not especially honest ... hardly a great man worthy of the honors he demanded.

"I wish I were like Harry Potter and rich and famous and everything." While I'm sure he wouldn't agree, Ron got exactly what he wished for: He is famous and rich for killing someone. Unfortunately, the fame and wealth don't mean much, because he lost everyone he loved ... just like Harry. I wonder if he has figured out that, technically, he did get his wish. I also wonder if he finally understands what Harry meant about being willing to trade everything to have a family like Ron's, who loved him. Probably not.

Harry may have lost his magic, but he doesn't seem to have let it ruin his life. He actually seems quite happy. I am curious about what he wanted when he said, "Oh, yes. I just wish ..." My guess is that he wishes he still had those he had loved and lost - his parents, Sirius, perhaps Hermione and the Weasleys. I guess he understands that it's important to focus on the blessings he has now and let go of the losses. Luna probably helped him there.

Interesting story. I like it.

Good story. Thanks for writing. W.
jon reeve chapter 1 . 1/6/2017
Aw, sweet ending there.

I liked the different take on how magic works, but didn't Hermione have an easier time of learning spells than Ron in canon?

Thanks for writing.

Outstanding crossover. Love the ending where Harry is wise enough not to wish for something personal.

I can see how this theory would come about when you think of how children believe until they become adults and stop believing.
