This felt like a tweaked version of Fate. Many Inuyasha stories are similar (can’t be helped but I don’t mind because it’s still sufficiently different when put through different writers) but I felt this was too similar…and both stories are overdramatic. I loved the beginning despite that because a kickass Kag is great, but halfway through it feels like a bit too much. Still, compared to Fate, this was better. At least Naraku didn’t rape Kagome (even if he intended to and was interrupted) even if she again gets a mating mark forced on her and she kills Naraku again in this story, and incidentally, like Fate, she kills her mate too in this story. Still I liked that Inuyasha wasn’t evil - he only unintentionally hurt Kagome in the beginning because he was simply an insensitive ass who was in love with Kikyo. One thing I didn’t like was that while I don’t mind an icy, stoic masked Kagome, I do hate that in both stories it seems that you’re intent on turning her into a bitch. In Fate she turns into an evil bitch even worse than Naraku. In this story it was a bit confusing because she willingly gave her body to Kikyo for Inuyasha’s happiness because such a selfless wish would get rid of the Shikon (which I thought was a stupid wish BTW because why did she give up her body to Kikyo? Why not simply wish Kikyo to life?) but anyway, it’s her choice, and later when she comes back she’s furious at Inuyasha even before she meets him again. She calls Kikyo a whore…and says she wants Inuyasha to bring her Kikyo’s body - dead or alive (when neither Inuyasha or Kikyo have done anything to her!). Making the heroine willingly a villain or an evil bitch is risky and doesn’t endear her or the story to readers… In the end, thankfully she isn’t evil like in Fate but whereas she started out as a likeable character, she suddenly turns unlikeable from chapter 10 unfortunately.

A few things that didn’t really make sense for me while I was reading the story. The human half of Naraku which couldn’t be purified by Kikyo managed to take over a strong full youkai Lord’s body? Even if we find out later that it’s because he may have been physically strong but was spiritually weak, I don’t get how it could’ve happened. So was his human spirit like a ghost that possessed the youkai’s body? (Then couldn’t Tenseiga have killed him off?) And without the youkai spirit, how can Naraku’s human spirit have any strength at all (I thought it was his youkai side that was strong)? Subjugation necklaces need to be put on by the miko but Kagome and Sesshomaru put on those necklaces themselves so shouldn’t work. Even Inu says later that they can only be taken off by the miko who put them on them. Kikyo rejects a hanyou because she rejects his youkai mating customs, ie his youkai nature, but leaves him for a full youkai? And her arch enemy Naraku at that? I also felt it was a bit too much having Naraku and Kikyo together, if Naraku’s back as villain, thought it may have been better to keep the evil Kikyo plot out of it. I get that you wanted Kagome to overhear and misunderstand Sesshomaru talking about other Lords rejection of Kagome as his mate but how on earth could Miroku have known the contents of a random scroll Sesshomaru was reading? The way it was stated was just unbelievable. Out of the blue you have Miroku ask "My Lord is that?" "Yes…the other Lords are demanding that I produce an heir."

At the end of the story, I realized that this story read more like a fairy tale than a novel. Overly dramatic and the last few chapters rushed to tie up all loose ends which were very neatly and unrealistically tied up to a happy end. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love happy endings, don’t like too much angst but even so, I prefer logic/things to be somewhat believable, so the fairy tale ending was not my taste. That Sesshomaru is so strong and feared that he can do anything with no repercussions - he’ll mate Kagome despite other Lords’ objections, their adopted human and kit will attend future lordly ceremonies. Kagome insisting Rin doesn’t need to “hide” felt rather ridiculous. They were obviously adult meetings where children wouldn’t and shouldn’t be attending so Kagome was making a big deal about Rin being forced to “hide”. They were meetings that Koga’s dad came alone to and not with Koga (even if Koga as a grown up heir could’ve attended) but to insist a little girl attend seemed silly - meeting was to propose a war on the North/Naraku…

I liked this better than Fate. Just a bit too simplistic and over dramatic for my taste but some good ideas and potential. Great achievement for finishing two long stories though! :)

I really like this story and I've read it many times but the 2 things that I can't make sense of. The 1st 1 was once Kagome knew she was dealing with Naraku again & knew that he always made sure to have more than 1 way to spy on his enemies (by using either Kanna's mirror or the hell bees?), Why didn't Kagome make use of the mirror that Midoriko gave her to use? The 2nd, after being trained by Midoriko herself, how come Kagome couldn't sense the dark power of the subjugation necklace/s or the aura of the dark miko (Kikyo) in her former body?

This story was awesome, amazing and a had a wonderful ending!
