Reviews for The Defeat of History
Hank1967 chapter 2 . 4/24/2019
Delightful little story. I hope you consider continuing it!
batsojopo chapter 2 . 1/27/2016
What a lovely beginning to a story in a fandom I've recently become acquainted with. I do wish you would continue and complete it.
Wolfman-053 chapter 2 . 10/19/2011
Very nice. I trust that HMS SURPRISE is either berthed next to USS CONSTITUTION (presumably displacing USS CASSIN YOUNG (DD-793) on the opposite side of the pier), or reposing in the Boston Navy Yard's Drydock 1 undergoing a thorough examination of her hull?
deckman chapter 2 . 7/20/2011
Well, I must say that I enjoyed the little tidbit you've left for us to read. I certainly would like to see where you go with this, if you ever do, so if you are wondering if you have an audience, you have at least one person waiting!
Boar Rushes Down The Mountain chapter 2 . 10/13/2010
I absolutely love where you're going with this. I'm begging you - More? And to respond to Wolfman: Yes, he did, and yes, it is as awesome as it sounds.
Thescarredman chapter 2 . 5/2/2010
My only experience with the world of the good ship 'Suprise' is the Russell Crowe movie, but I didn't have any trouble following this. It's quite good, and prompts me to examine the books as the film did not. I'd be interested to know if you have any intention of returning to it.
Wolfman chapter 2 . 7/31/2009
You cryogenically froze the crew of HMS SURPRISE?
Psychedelic Dust Bunny chapter 2 . 6/7/2008
Wow. Wondrful! I like the little bit with the telivision set, very humerous. I do hope that you will update soon.
Mercury Gray chapter 2 . 5/30/2008
Again- GENIUS! The bit with the television set and the past two centuries of history was inspired. If I'd been living in 1800 and had to watch everything that took place in the last two hundred years I'd be scared, too. Both world wars, several civil wars, the fall of slavery, the rise of 'terrorism'...it would be a lot to take in. and then, of course, there's all the stuff that gets them from 2008 to 2017. Anyway, I'm blathering. Capital stuff you've got here- keep it coming!
Mercury Gray chapter 1 . 5/30/2008
"Fast- very fast, if she's well handled." Touche. And Touche again on all this marvelous history you've managed to so effortlessly cram into this story! The transition between Regency England and post-modern Boston is amazing as well. I like the idea of extended hypothermia and all that other medical stuff that was too complicated for me to understand fully- it's a much more plausible time travel methodology than the one normally employed in these sorts of stories. Really looking forward to reading the rest of this!
Sailoramber chapter 2 . 4/6/2008
ah such small snippets, i find myself aglow with anticipation of your next chapter. i cannot imagine the fun i will have reading the awakening of the sailors. and jack, poor jack; he had such a lovely family, and he'll not be able to see them again. as fun as it would be to meet britsh sailors from the napoleonic wars, i should feel very sorry for them indeed if they had no way back to their own time. post again soon please?
Eliza J. Cain chapter 1 . 4/2/2008
Most interesting.

The 'Surprise' lives, now all we need is the "Acheron'.

lol...
Sailoramber chapter 1 . 3/28/2008
wow! this is brilliant! i love how they bring in the captains of the victory and the constitution to help try to understand the situation. and what of evelyn? she seems connected to steven and it doesn't seem to be romantic. a distant relation perhaps? i can't wait to read the next chapter.
Wes Imlay chapter 1 . 3/20/2008
This is great, I can't wait to read more!
Hope of Freedom chapter 1 . 3/12/2008
I love this idea! _ Please update soon.
