This is excellent so far. Your characterisations are very well done. I personally disagree with the reviewer who said that you made Light go too far darkside. Light barely showed any signs of conscience in the manga when he murdered Naomi- going so far as to taunt her- when he murdered Lind L Taylor, thinking he was L, when he killed the FBI agents, considered killing his family, his own sister... all without much remorse. Why would this situation be any different? I have no problem believing Light capable of sinking this low.

Amazing writing, very suspenseful, emotional and tough to get through at times, but that comes with the package with Death Note. I love how you combined aspects of the various adaptations for the climactic scene, and how L psychoanalyzed Light at the end to make Soichiro feel better.
L got to die victorious and not alone, even though he suffered first. I presume he notifies Wammy's House before his time is up.
Also, "wash cycle from hell" was perfect.

But, before I fangirl all over your work, here you have some flames... I mean, advice!
I was a little sad you got rid of the grey and grey morality in death note. I understand is difficult to uh, 'handle'. I could barely handle it myself, and had to see a couple of fanfics that made Light a puppy kicker or L a sick pervert before I came to terms with it. (If you don't understand, its that in death note, (at least in the start) it is not entirely clear who is evil (black) and good (white). They are both grey. At the end Light changes to the dark side- pun not intended, so it turns to dark vs grey. Visit .org and search grey and grey morality if you still don't get it, I just suck at explaining) This fic just gives me the feelings Light liked kicking babies in his free time and that L is such a poor victim. I didn't like it.

It is also a bit OOC, I mean, L's inteligennce was a bit down played, (except for the 'tell me what I want to know thing' that was hilariously clever). Yes, I know L was frikin' dying in pure agony, but still. Light's like for violence is a bit too much. Yes, he is a mass murderer in his free time and had a god complex, but he is still just a kid, and he, weirdly, better than anyone, understands that a god wouldn't get down to the level of killing inocents or with his bare hands. I saw you tried pointing this out with Light thinking that what he was doing was wrong, but he dismissed it so easily, he might as well have not thought of it.

Also, I didn't like the ending at all, I just felt weird seeing soichiro emotionally adopt L. It just ruins the dark mood throughout the anime and the fic. Besides, L would, rather bluntly, reject the feeling in fear of betraying Watari or sometin' (maybe just because of the stages of grief (denial)). Also, it was sad not to see him mourning his ONLY FAMILY XD other than two or one time.

Also I don't believe Light would snap that easily and that it would last that long. In the anime he snaped, but at the very end. He wouldn't attack L unless it was really necesary. He could have just written the message to rem like he did with his spokesman. (Don't remember her name XD). Not merciless violence right away, and not that long. He respected Ryuzaki, he knew his enemy would be unworthy if he, for example, let a man rape L out of nowhere. Also, Ryuzaki respected Light. In a weird and very L way, but respect nonetheless.

I dun know. I usually don't point these things out in other fanfics, because they simply don't have the uhm... potential ? To be better, or the writer wouldn't understand, but this fic has a lotttt of potential.

Loved the writing style, would have liked to see L's POV, but I loved every second of it!

This story is great. The ending was way more satasfying than the original series. I enjoyed it. Though, it's a shame that they didn't know L could be saved simply by writing his name two more times in the notebook.

Amazing. Bloody amazing. Very unusual, too. This is the first ever DN fanfic that I've read that has a Light who's a violent kidnapper (and I think that this is the only one out there). I also have to say that the last paragraph of this story is unique.

You did a wonderful job on this.

I can't even begin to explain how badly I want the Death Eraser I've heard is from the pilot chapter of the manga to turn up...

That aside, this was an amazing story! I've never seen a story have Light actually kidnap L, and I loved it!
