Reviews for Good Mothers Create the Earth
SoundScream chapter 1 . 8/9/2015
3 words to express my gratitude. I Love You
Sophia chapter 1 . 3/25/2011
This is really, really beautiful. Ever since "The Desert" I keep imagining what it must be like for someone like Katara who just *cares* so much. So many people to take care of, so many of their problems to solve... I can't understand people who hate her character, honestly.
Void chapter 1 . 7/14/2010
I love your Avatar stories so much.

And your other stories.

...I'll have to come back and say something more coherent later.
amildsortoforgy chapter 1 . 9/6/2009
This is so beautiful! I love it :o)
Raina1 chapter 1 . 9/30/2008
Very well-written, very in depth. You managed to make it feel like the series with the prose and dramatic imagery.
ShinakaStar chapter 1 . 9/22/2008
This is absolute LOVE. I love writing that flows smoothly and subtly and you did it here so wonderfully that despite the lack of overt Zutara (which I don't need to read Zutara fanfic anyway), the force of your words just sent me over the edge. And the myth was GORGEOUS. Thanks for writing this. _

Artemis chapter 1 . 8/9/2008
My God you write fantastically.

BOWS PATHETICALLY AT YOUR FEET

Awesomeness.

I loves me some Greek mythology too! Once you go Greek you won't ever go back...err...or whatever. lol.

Oh for the love of goodness write more Zutara/Katara/Zuko introspecective. You're so freaking good at it. Lord almighty, are you blessed!
Gobeul chapter 1 . 5/7/2008
Wow... just wow...

It's deep stuff, that it is. Good work.
Story Weaver1 chapter 1 . 5/5/2008
I believe the greeks had a different way of explaining the seasons. And it seems the mythology is making you angsty what with that 'Tales of the Campfire'

But yeah, Katara is the one holding the group together. Lots of Angst! about the strain involved.

But were you having trouble thinking of a problem for Toph? I can't imagine her leaving, where would she go? Certaintly not back to her Cagehome.
words without chapter 1 . 5/2/2008
This was just amazing. What a great look at Katara's character! she's always been the mother of the group, and yet sooner or later all that added responsibility is going to make her crack. The way you worked the myth into the story was also very creatively done.

I should also mention that I like Zuko's portrayal in the fic. Still having some trouble getting used to season three Zuzu, but I liked the way you wrote him.
Withdrawn chapter 1 . 5/1/2008
Now, I have to say this before I write my review, I may not perfectly get all of your references or what exactly is happening, considering that, though and Avatar fan I may be, I missed all of season 3... and yes, to answer the question this will inevitably inspire, I do hate hate my torturous existence of no-cable and dial-up net access. Now then, as for the review, this was really good, mainly because it was so dark that it made my skin crawl. The parallels were nice, and though I don't recognize the Greek myth you're referencing (though I can guess that the Earth Goddess is Hera, and that the King of the Sky is Zeus) this still seems to parallel the situation that you've painted for Katara quite perfectly, and it's really frightening what that implies, be the result of her eventual loss her losing control aggressively (like Aang at the end of season 1) or simply from her eventually breaking down because she can't handle the stress and everyone else falls apart around her as the group looses the only thing that can keep them together, whether they realize it or not. Beyond that, you made the level of suffering here almost too... real. I'm not going to say I have anywhere near enough real-life experience to understand Katara's level of suffering/panic, but I could feel enough to be, as mentioned above, disturbed. Basically, this was one of those fics that was really really good, mainly because it was evil. Nice job.
Raawiyah chapter 1 . 4/30/2008
this was stunning! You have a wonderful style and flow to your writing. I felt so much reading this and hearing the things that passed through Katara's mind. I could feel the weight pressing down on her. I like your premise on why Katara keeps Zuko distant from her. I find it very believable. The myth had slight allusions to Persephone which has always been my favorite. Death and rebirth... the power of a mother's love.

Some of the best fanfic I've read in a while :)
CyberD chapter 1 . 4/30/2008
I really liked this story. Its a great insight to Katara's feelings and her mind, the way she sees everyone and such. I wonder if there would be any other mythology inspired stories on the way? _ shameless pleading right there. anywho, loved the style, the story, and the emotion you brought forth. Very well done.
Zaz9-zaa0 chapter 1 . 4/29/2008
Wow.

Since your 'Campfire' fic in FFXII, I've been in wait to see what more wonders you can take with the XII fandom and mythology...

... And am subsequently amazed to find that your magnificent prose is also in the Avatarverse.

Honestly, Katara's character has always got me confused, seeing as she can be seen as either passive and motherly, bitter and angsty, or shallow and remorseless. Here, however, you've given me such a greater understanding of her as a person, and not just someone with a lot of personality complex going on.

Though, Zuko and the Gaang were perfectly presented, what with the former's attempts to reach out to Katara, despite her wishes to try and keep things as normal and straightforward as possible.

(Did I adore the underlying theme of water and fire? YES! :D)
