Ooh, this was...different. I really like this. Poor Tumnus, though! Very sad. But also, very well done.
MaryChapel chapter 1 . 4/16/2015
Oh my! This was heatbreaking...:(
Quihi chapter 1 . 3/22/2015
That little squirrel kit is absolutely, perfectly adorable!

And I liked the whole thing about how wishes always come true, but not how you expect. The part about Tumnus's completely changing history was neat: Narnia had to be falling apart before they could return.

I love the little squirrel so much though! I can just picture it: "I caught you! I caught you!"
Gen-in-the-Eve chapter 1 . 5/21/2014
This is terribly sad but also terribly beautiful in the strange way such things are. I both hate it and love it and think it is an extremely compact story for its length. It feels like a missing piece in canon to be honest.
Miss mia chapter 1 . 1/3/2013
Wow. What an awesome explanation for Telmarines and an awesome morality story. Wow. Just - wow.
WillowDryad chapter 1 . 7/2/2012
Wow. Grim and majestic and wonderful.

Amazing as always.
Ravenclaw1991 chapter 1 . 5/27/2012
You give poor Mr. Tumnus quite a bit of grief in your stories! It works so well. I can see him not liking Edmund and such. This makes complete sense, much like your story with the Birds of Joy and Sorrow. All the little prophecies they made came true in Prince Caspian basically, just as Tumnus' wish here. I always believed the White Stag to be Aslan and he led the Pevensies home. Maybe that Stag was but this is the real one. We will never know unfortunately. Its just so brilliant though!
Westel chapter 1 . 7/16/2011
Would like to know how you came to present Tumnus the way you have in all your stories. I don't disapprove, just find it opposite so many other authors' perceptions.

It's so REAL, just like living in our own world, that sometimes we can't LIKE everyone, but must get along with them as best we can - like having this beast within us that continues to rear its ugly head, though we may want it gone - though we may even believe it HAS gone, only to see, in horror, that it only lay dormant.

As always, your stories cut to the quick.

SoloMoon chapter 1 . 1/16/2011
This is an incredibly brilliant oneshot. I love that you adopt such an unusual point of view as this, and your interpretation of the stag is fascinating. More than any other person I have ever read, I think that you succeed in capturing the true spirit of the Narnia stories and especially who the characters really are.

Though you are quite harsh to Mr. Tumnus, I like that you do make him at least somewhat sympathetic and all. This was such a fascinating interpretation of what happened to Narnia after the Pevensies were gone that it made me think about the time in between LWW and PC entirely differently. Once again, I am simply amazed at your ability to immerse yourself in Lewis's world so thoroughly and yet to bring so much fresh persepective to his concepts and characters. Please never stop writing.
Anonymous chapter 1 . 3/26/2010
Wow. That was really good. It's a good answer to Lucy's question in the movie Prince Caspian "how could Aslan have let this happen?" Keep it up!
lore chapter 1 . 2/1/2010
...you don't think much of Tumnus do you? it is sad to think that things might have gone a better way... On the technical side of things, I enjoyed this story very much, as much as I have enjoyed all your other stories. I am looking forward to the next chapter of "were it not for you". wonderful work.
livingandthriving chapter 1 . 1/16/2010
Yeah, this definitely makes you stop and think. Personally I think it fits in pretty well with the canon and everything else you've written (that I've read so far, at least).
HarmonyLover chapter 1 . 12/15/2009
We've talked before about you not liking Tumnus, and how I am much more like Lucy when it comes to loving him. :) I mostly just felt deeply sorry for him in this story, for being so misguided. I LOVE what you have done with the Stag, as it gives him a character, purpose, and background all his own. Well done.
magyka95 chapter 1 . 12/8/2009
