Wow. I really like this alot. Very very much. It especially got my attention because when I read about the Ocean Spirit I instanly though Moon. And then Yue. And well, full circle. Moon and Ocean spirits. Yue and Sokka...yeah, my mind works wierd, I'm not sure you even though of that...
Kira73 chapter 1 . 6/27/2008
I absolutely love this piece. Hakoda's flashbacks and insights on his son are incredible and touching. Great job!

And you are right. Hakoda does not get enough love. He is a great man.
Stormtrooper22 chapter 1 . 6/19/2008
Excellent story! All the characters were well written, and fit fantastically with the Day of the Black Sun had some much needed love for a much overlooked character.

Bluetiger chapter 1 . 6/19/2008
Using a storm as a backdrop to the Sokka's sword practice, conjures quite a dramatic image.

I like your ideas concerning the Ocean Spirit (I have been thinking along similar lines myself just recently), and Sokka's changable nature. Oh, and I am glad that Hakoda regrets the distance that exists between him and his son, but its a shame he can't find away to make up for what he did in 'Might Break You'.

I would have liked to have read more, particularly to see where Sokka was headed, and if he really was going to run out of whatever it was that sustained him.

Oh, and did Hakoda ever get around to actually wishing his son a happy birthday? :)
Smitti chapter 1 . 6/19/2008
Good grief, this was beautiful. I hung on your every word. You write absolutely wonderful and have such an insight to the characters. I look forward to more of your work.

Wonderful.

You're so right, and I think neither Sokka nor Hakoda get a lot of love. So many times Sokka is the butt of the joke or the object of amusement (which he is), but not many times do you see the more serious side of him. And writing this from a father's perspective was very well done. I especially enjoyed how you constructed their relationship - they're close, and they want to be closer, but there's a barrier. And the bit about the Ocean Spirit? It completely describes his emotions in a nutshell. Nice touch!

Overall, I was a sucker for it. Very nice muse; I am impressed.
