I saw this recommended in Clodia's 'Beleriand Treasury.'

And it was well recommended! You have beautiful writing! The way you color Denethor's despair - reading this was like looking at a painting. I seriously wanted to cry. Even sadder, if possible, than Denethor's depth of grief was small Faramir tagging along, unnoticed, uncomforted. I like the concept that it was Finduilas' death that led to the use of the Palantir - to see *her* face, not the state of the Gondor or the outcome of a battle or anything else. It makes him seem more human, I think.

Again, beautiful work! This is going in my favorites. :)

Since you managed to make me feel sympathy for a character I hate with a passion you have done very well. I despise Denethor, but this piece made my heart ache.

I also loved the little touches of character depth which you added such as Faramir following his father. Everything about the story feels very believable, and considering how Denethor reacts to Boromir's death his reaction to his own wife's death seems to warrant at least as much if not even a greater reaction. Very well done!

A good piece. The pace is hypnotizing, the character is credible. Looking forward to read more of your LOTR stories.

A nicely done one-shot. I enjoyed the poetic angst. The bittersweet romance was well-done as well.

I thought your sentence, "Who shall blame him...?" held an excellent point. Who indeed would dare lay blame on Denethor for using the Palantir when his beloved had just passed away?

All in all, an excellent insight into the mind of the often-misunderstood Steward of Gondor.
