Reviews for Part Time
dhrachth chapter 12 . 4/29/2018
I was going through some old bookmarks and I have to say this is just as charming to read as it was the first time through.
drealyn22 chapter 13 . 4/5/2017
I really loved this! Your writing style is easy to read, full of humor and descriptive visuals, and the dialogue was spot on for all three characters. When Mugen left, I felt so sad, but not for long because it was so touching and comforting that Jin and Fuu stayed close. I loved it when he asked her if she'd ever thought about fishing. There were some great unspoken interactions too, especially between Mugen and Jin, showing how much they respect each other. This was a great story. Really enjoyable. I'll probably read it a few more times!

the boulevard chapter 13 . 9/5/2014
This is one of the best stories in this fanfic I have ever read.
Ciole chapter 13 . 4/1/2014
I've been binging on Champloo fics for the past week, and I would like you to know that this fic is my absolute favorite. Your voice, the portrayal of the characters, their relationship...it's all so endearingly goofy and honest. There are so many lines I love...the part about Mugen pissing in Fuu's tea kettle, Mugen slipping about how much Jin's "betrayal" sucked, Jin feeling frisky, Jin and Mugen's bromancy goodbye, Mugen's entrances...I could go on forever.

Above all, your concept is so amazingly hilarious and original and just wow. Reading this fic made me so happy, but also a little sad because it makes me feel like I missed the golden age of the Champloo fandom. Oh well. Thanks for writing this!
interestingstuff chapter 13 . 6/7/2013
That was so cool. I adore your characterization. The scene between Fuu, Mugen, and Mugen's little gang about what the gang really stood for was perfect. Your story seems like it was the two episode epilogue that was never aired or something. Well done!
SkItZoFrEaK chapter 13 . 10/14/2012
I loved this story with a love like fire. It was endearing and funny and so in character while still allowing for some development over time that I laughed the whole way through it. Best Fuu Voice ever.
Anonymously Smitten chapter 13 . 4/11/2012
Freaking awesome. Hilarious. Made me laugh aloud several times.
starry.starry.flightgmail.com chapter 13 . 11/4/2011
That was sublime. Spot-on in every way. You said it was comforting to write it, and I think I understand why, because it's so comforting to read it.

I guess part of me wishes that they'd just travel together forever and ever. This isn't a criticism of the story; the story has the bittersweet quality unique to believable writing. Fuu's (and through her, yours) observations about life ring utterly true. Mugen's discomfort at being viewed as an icon was a fantastic idea with excellent execution. I loved so many lines, I can't quote them all here, but the top four are,

"Its funny, when you get to know a person. The easier it is to call someone out on their bullshit, the more pointless it becomes."

"Maybe there are bigger Reasons for us out there. Maybe there will be a revolution someday, and maybe one of us will lead it. But while we're all out there wandering, there's one reason you have to figure out first. And that's the reason to come home."

"And that was that. Mugen's Day Camp for Wayward Youths was over just as suddenly, and as accidentally, as it began. It occurred to me then that was true of most things in life. Your biggest moments are unplanned, unexpected, and transient. You can only hope you recognized them for what they were as they leave."

And the entire epilogue. It's heartrending and -warming in one, and moved me more than any story, anywhere, that I've read in a long while. The kiss- the acknowledgement of undefinable relationships (and not just that one); the discovering and choosing what YOU stand for, rather than others' beliefs; the aforementioned observation about the biggest moments in life; and the way, once again, it comes full circle, bringing them together with new experiences and views and understanding. Their home is each other. You brought that out beautifully. And to this reader, it felt like I was also coming home, and catching up with old friends.

If I could show one Samurai Champloo story to Shinichiro Watanabe, it would be this one. You are a true wordsmith, and if you've written anything beyond fanfiction, I would certainly read that too. I've never written a review for any other fic I've read. This is a pitch-perfect story.

Well, WELL done.
Captain Stu chapter 13 . 8/22/2011
i really enjoyed this. you write very well. the literary references were well placed, too. you captured their characterization perfectly, especially their flaws. because that's what we like the most, isn't it?
Mooncake chapter 13 . 8/14/2010

Amazonian21 chapter 13 . 7/19/2010
Still my favorite anime. And you're so freaking good at bringing them back. Makes me miss them when they're gone.
dhrachth chapter 13 . 5/4/2010
