Just discovered this incredible story. I assume after 8 years this is unfinished. But if you ever pick this back up I’ll be here! What an incredibly moving story. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful piece. I’m glad that the ice is melting in Snapes heart and both are learning to trust.

Talk about being terrible! You haven't posted anything in 8 years! I don't mean to be critical, but I love this story and it is not finished. Please finish it, Mara.

My dear Mara,
Have you noticed that you share Harry's problem of apologising for everything? Look, I can understand that writing a story is a lot of work and sometimes even the best of us lose their motivation. Especially when a story went in an entirely different direction from what you first expected.

That said, I would lie if I said that I didn't hope for you to update. But I know that the chances of that are spectacularly slim, seeing how you last updated in 2012. Maybe you're not even a HP fan anymore. Who knows. Your story is one of the most favourited when it comes to mentor fics so people will keep finding this story. I would bet that you keep getting reviews as well.

Let's say something with actual substance now. I really enjoyed this story very much! I especially appreciate the slow approach you've been taking to show us Snape's change in attitude and Harry's mental progress. It's always sad when people take that too quickly but you've balanced it perfectly. Your writing style is distinct but very enjoyable. Your dialogue flows naturally and everyone is so in character. I enjoy the small gestures of affection that Snape shows every now and then, such as this last chapter with the grass. the witty jokes you came up with had me smiling and laughing many times and the feelings of despair and anxiety had me feeling so sad for Harry. All in all, this fic has been an emotional rollercoaster that I'll be sure to enjoy many more times in the future. Finished or not.

But. If you do still have this love for HP. And if you do still appreciate the mentor bond between Snape and Harry, even if it's not canon, I ask you to consider taking up this story and writing more for it. I know that there are many more people out there that would be thrilled to see you update. A good story never loses its readers. And yours is a damn good story.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaah...! I'm at the end! And I'm absolutley devastated! This story is so enjoyably slow paced and I just want 100 chapters more. I do wonder if you had planned for this story to wrap up rather soon or if something significant was yet to happen in order to push Severus into quitting his spying and adopting Harry (either officially or unofficially) since at this point in time Harry still sees his current living arrangement and relationship with Severus as only temporary. Please feel free to come back and update one day. I would love to know! :) x

It's a shame you've abandoned this story. I've been spending a few days reading it and now feel a bit left out because there won't be an end to it.
Good work anyway. It's nice to read a fatherly Snape who still retains his sarcasm and aloof coolness. I do believe too that he would react badly to child abuse.

Interesting story. I can’t wait to see what happens next! I love stories where Snape becomes a father figure for Harry and this one has included a lot of interesting twists and turns. I went to your profile page when I noticed how long it’s been since you last updated and I’m glad your father is ok and hope that he continues to improve in the short term memory. Take as much time as you need! Just know that I’m eagerly awaiting the continuation of this and will probably end up rereading it (unless you update tomorrow or in a week...otherwise I will probably reread just for fun!) but will wait for as long as you need time. I personally don’t know what I would have done in your situation but I hope that you and your family all stay in good health!
