The contrast between "her face glowing as she delighted in the tenderness of his touch" and the description of her "covered in the blood of his latest customer" was almost shocking. Excellent job keeping it believable too, I could actually believe these thoughts going across his mind :)

You know how much I like your stories and your style, but this one clearly stands out by far.

It is a kind of story which leaves me thinking about it, which will turn up in my mind when I least expect it and plague me until I read it again.

And I think that is what a real good story should be: It should make one thinking about it and it should arouse the desire to read it over and over again. "Pretty" is such a story and I certainly will read it again - have to read it again.
