Every now and again, it's fun to read a very, very dark fic in the Slayers universe. If anything, the novels do a good job of mentioning the reality of how people treat captured women (when Lina is nearly raped by some guards and Gourry lies about her having a disease to scare them away).

Lina and Gourry are also very well suited to the hurt/comfort relationship. They've always bonded well over a crisis, taking care of each other.

There are parts where Lina seems a bit OOC, but others in which you really nail her character and realistically portray her reactions to the traumatic events.

Although I know it was needed as a plot device, Lina normally tells Gourry when her time of the month is, since it's important for their survival for him to know when she can't use any magic. Also, since they've traveled for so long together (as just a party of two), I would imagine someone as dense as Gourry would notice that Lina's time of the month also meant frequent bathroom breaks. Gourry is very observant about body language and other things - hence his ability to figure out Xellos was a Mazoku. I would expect him to figure out that it might be Lina's time of the month when she refused to heal her hand with Recovery.

Sometimes Gourry seems a bit more mushy than I expect, but it's not too over the top.

It seems this story is abandoned, but I hope you come back to it someday.

well from the looks of the last time this was updated this will probably fall on deaf ears ,but... this story is awesome despite its dark nature and i would love to see it finished. Even though its not finished i do find myself coming back to this story just to re-read it cause its so damn good.

I know it's my own fault for reading a fic that hasn't been updated in forever. And I don't even know if you check this anymore...But still. This fic needs to be continued!

Though I do wish you good luck with your 'real' writing. Though you probably don't need any because you write very well. But do you think that maybe once you're sufficiently wealthy and famous you could come back to this fic? Because you left quite a cliff hanger there, you know. Pretty please?

My God. Wow. This is the BEST fic I've EVER read. I'm NOT kidding. And now I should kill you. You *promised* to end it. It's such a loss that you never did this and abandoned it... But it felt like reading a normal novel, not remembering that it was just a fanfic. Sorry, have I just said 'just'? No, it was really something. The way you make characters live, show their emotions and actions, it is simply awesome. It's quite obvious that you wanted to start your own career (no wonder, I would instantly buy your book) but... was it to hard to finish just this one story? No, I won't forget you.

Nevetheless... thank you for this story.

BTW, is there anybody who has this chapter 18th? Seems like it's no longer here... But I want to read it. Please, don't make me die and could you send it to me? ;_;

Is this story dead? I'd been really enjoying it, but it's been so long since an update, here at least. Has it moved to a different location or anything? It's been so good, I really hope that it'll be finished...

I love the story so far. I don't, however, understand the need for a flaming email address for you. (I on the other hand badly need a flaming email address ::sweatdrop::) This story is just to good!

I know by the time you read this you will have probably already finished the story and everything but seeing as how I'm only on chapter 14 I thought I'd give you an overview of what I thought so far.

I totally agree with your thoughts on the dark parts of the story. IT'S your story. Its the only way us authors vent and pour out our souls into the ideas that nag us in the middle of the night and just won't go away. This the way we express ourselves. Its our art! Whoever complained to you about something so trivial and dumb was just that!

I must say that I'm glad Lina didn't get fully rapped though *slight smiles* It would be very tramatic for her especially. The story is absoloutly fantastic so far and I will continue to read it. I figure by the title it'll have a sad ending and you might be the one author out of the thousands of fics I've read to get tears of me. *lol*

Wow - I really like this. I have never seen Slyers, jjust read the first two issues of the manga, but I always loved both Lina and gourry because of their unique characters. I found your fic merely by accident and it was the first Slyers fic i've ever read! And I really, really enjoyed it! You did a great job at potraying the character's emotion, the storyline is complex and interesting to read. I sincerely hope to see more of this!
