I read this fic all the way through, never losing interest. This is extremely well-written! I like the episodic nature of it, it seems fitting for the Fallout universe. Most of its inhabitants are not the Lone Wanderer, and I like the fact that it's set after the end of the game. We get to see what's left behind. Fawkes is spot-on; I feel a little sad for him just as I did in the game.

No lie, I usually read romantic type stuff, and rhis story kept me interested even with no romance, no hint or promise of it even. Thistle is a wonderful narrator and a well-rounded character. Well done!

ahh im glad i decided to check to see if you had other fallout fics after finishing black as oil. i loved this. thistle is a great oc and i love three as well. im glad everyone got a happy ending.

Awesome fanfic, it was as good or better than any fiction I have read, and I read a lot. I have read your other Fall Out fanfic with Charon and Zen, also a wonderful read. Would look forward to more Fall Out writings if you would have the will to write them. Good luck in what you do in the future you will go far.

Ohhh man, I finished reading this in the dead of night while on vacation but I even made a note on my phone to review this because I was so affected by it - the ending was so touching that it made me tear up!

This story is beautiful. It's a wonderful and masterful depiction of relationships formed in the wasteland; it shows love, not the romanticised type, but pure and simple love, with individuals finding their places within each other. That is the best, most honest kind of love to me, and to be able to convey that in writing is no small feat!

The narrative was brilliantly done, as well; I particularly liked that Thistle had a reason for starting her journal at all, and that this reason was part of the events that happened during. The ending was perfect, and it was cool to see that the three of them are as safe with each other as they are in their protected, secret vault.

You have an exceptional way with words, to the point where the style and techinicality of the writing was no issue - it delivered the content in the smoothest way, if I'm explaining this properly. I was never yanked out of the story by a weird turn of phrase or character action - that is wonderful, too, by the way! You write characters like you ARE them. And you took a character like a Gary clone and fleshed him out completely and naturally. I am in awe.

The only thing I'd have to criticise would be your author's notes - not that they exist, but that I believe most of them would work as footnotes to follow the chapter; this is just a personal preference, but I was a tiny bit bummed to know what to expect in the chapter. That said, you were very good about not inadvertently spoiling yourself, and I did enjoy reading about your decisions and path of logic.

I really, really loved this story, and was very sad to see it finished. I'd love to read more about Thistle and Fawkes and Gary! Thank you for making 9 hours in a cramped back seat go by like nothing.

That's it! That's exactly what made your stories feel weird! The writing styles makes it feel like a subplot of an overarching adventure so when the story end after the subplot is over, it just feels so sudden! It doesn't stop me from absolutely loving your stories but it does feel frustrating to reach the end while expecting more :(

The whole story was captivating and the way you wrote it made me really care about what happened to the characters. This is a pretty well done fanfiction. Well done.

So you took the characters of a ghoul, a super mutant and a mad clone. then you managed to make them insanely interesting and relatable. Then you did gave an excellent reason for her to be writing all this stuff down and gave us the beautiful story of this vaults original dwellers. Just incredible. you really do impress me more with every story of yours i read. I just wish i get to the point where im this good at writing one day, i mean i have a few fans but im nowhere near this good and my stories are mostly just syrupy mush XD

i especially loved the power down terminal bit at the end, well done to you.

Bravo, I give you a standing ovation for this entire story. I'm so new to Fallout but already the game owns me fully. What you did in bringing the chara's to life was a job well done and then some. I couldn't stop reading tbh and I'm glad for the missed sleep FOR doing so.

I now want to start writing some Vault 108 fic. I'm so surprised no one really tackles this vault and the Gary's. To me, that's one of my fave aspects OF the game, believe it or not. I Like how you started to humanize Three a little more and it gave me my own motivation to do some highly odd but incredible Garys of the 108 tales... :)
