I love it

This needs to be expanded on. I want to know what Kurata does. Hell, I hated the dude's guts, but he deserves a second chance, even if he was pure evil.

Really good. An amazing slant and observation. It seems that Digimon had been very fairy tale up until data squad and making this continues that. It was nice and I didn't even notice the blatant similarities between the two until this fic. Good job.

Oh, thank you, finally a story with a new angle on Kurata! And how original, too. I particularly like how you explored the idea of Kurata's redemption and his being the lone "real" human villain. I was intrigued by this idea myself.

Kurata's refusal to see Oikawa's point of view was very much in character, and I love his reaction to the consequences of his actions, his pride, his dismissal of Digimon altogether. In this type of story it's very easy to screw up the character. You didn't :)

Ah, Kurata... I play around with his character in my own writing, which is more of a prequel, where I display all his conceited and cowardly traits and combine them with what I believe to be redemptive qualities as well. It's so nice to find another take on this, and particularly with season 02 characters. Oikawa felt very natural and IC as well.

I liked the catchphrase being included too, of course. And while this can easily stand alone I would LOVE to see you continue it, maybe slowly develop Kurata's changing character and his redemption.

When I read the summary, I thought you were utterly mental. Kurata, redeemable? I think the reason he wasn't redeemed, is because he was the first 'evil' human who wasn't possessed. Even Yamaki, in Season 3, was never as bloodthirsty: he hated Digimon at first, but didn't necessarily ENJOY killing them. I don't see how he could be convinced that Digimon aren't inherently evil - however, you've shown an believable way for that to come to pass.

Despite his cruel, even sadistic disposition towards Digimon, there was some hidden nobility in him in that he believed he was saving his own race from annihilation - people can do evil, but nobody actually considers themselves evil. Anyone can be redeemed if they choose to be - if Kurata had wanted to be redeemed for his actions towards DIGIMON (which he doesn't), then he could achieve it. Even so, I can see him doing it like this - for humans, at least.

Oikawa was a good choice - having been there, he'd know what it's like. I also liked your use of Arukenimon and Mummymon - it wasn't really their fault, they were MADE to be evil by Myotismon. In addition, my personal philophy means that I can view the Digidestined of Season 2 as hypocrits - they claim they won't kill 'real' Digimon, but what's a real Digimon? Does it have to be born traditionally? OK, so the Control Spire Digimon were drones, but BlackWarGreymon is living proof that you can't blame people for where they come from - he redeemed himself, why can't Arukenimon and Mummymon. And why, by extension, can't Kurata?

Excellent work here. Even though I haven't seen Season 5, and Season 2 is my least favourite, I'm pleased with how well you handled this idea. A very believable crossover.

It was good and pretty interesting (especially considering you say you haven't even seen season 5), but I think I have to agree with how the series played out.

I've seen season 5 and I truly believe Kurata was, as your title goes, "Beyond Redemption." Some of the things he did were just plain cruel and awful.

But it's probably true, that if anyone would be able to turn him around, it would probably have had to be either Oikawa or Yamaki. I'm glad you went with one of those two, as it makes it easier to see the plot work.
