Wow...this sent chills down my spine. Your descriptions are truly wonderful and there are several hidden messages that are mentioned again later in the story...(reflection etc)

I thought it was kind of creepy that the Digimon Kaiser/Emperor looked almost exactly like Osamu...

Your interpretation of Osamu's death is a version that I haven't heard of before, but that only means that you get extra points for originality _

Love it!

This was such a hard and heavy read. When I finally made it to the end I felt a sort of accomplishment and great satisfaction in being able to finish it. I was greatly impressed with the story. You truly put out some magnificent works.

It moved me to near tears more than once while I read it; the different points of view on Osamu from both Ken and his mother were excellently portrayed. There was so much sadness in the first few segments. It hurts to read when you're aware of Osamu's ultimate fate and the consequences it has on his family. It hurts to read his mother's praise and her pride when we know she ends up failing as a parent.

The bubble segment was extraordinarily well done. I love how you added the bit about reflections showing the true image and revealing the truth. Ken doesn't understand it then, but it's an important fact he comes to understand later in his life.

And everything leads to Ken wanting to be Osamu in order to ease his death upon their parents. It hurts again that his parents don't try to prevent this - dare I say it, they possibly even encourage this. It just goes to show their faults over again. Without Osamu, they are nothing. And if Ken were to become like Osamu, then they would be something again. Ken knows this. He doesn't need his parents; they need him.

Yet as hard as he tries to become Osamu for his parents, I'm inclined to say he doesn't succeed. Ken doesn't become his brother, he becomes the person he perceived Osamu to be. What he saw in Osamu was a cruel heartless brother who saw himself above all others and had no equals. In the end, the reflection speaks the truth; to Ken, Osamu is back, but what Ken fails to realize is that's not really Osamu - it's merely the image of what Ken thought him to be.

When they finally showed an image of Sam after Ken was stopped as the Digimon Emperor, it did strike me at the time how similar Sam's appearance was to the Emperor, whereas the appearance was dropped when he wasn't in the Digital World. And this story makes you wonder what would have happened if Sam had lived.

This story makes you think "who created the monster?" Sam, or his parents? Or was Sam the monster himself? Definitely a good piece of writing here.

Kyaa~, unfortunately it's pretty obvious you used dub dialogue for this, which is very different from the original...

...but it's nice anyway. xD
