Cute story. Given how often they get into fights with the possessed, it's surprising this doesn't happen more often.

Having hit my boyfriend/finance ACCIDENTLY there, I imagined most of the description you put in here. Good job with the pain. I want to laugh, but ... *shudder* there are some things you should've laugh at.

Wow... I just LOVED this story. Everything about it! Most of all, though, how wrote it from Sam's perspective

without making a first person narrative out of it. I think this way it feels even stronger... hmmm, well, hard

to say what I mean... but I hope you'll understand anyway.

What I liked most were the parts where Sam's doubts and fears of not being worthy anymore of Dean's concern come

through loud and clear:

He always could of course, and Dean always knew that. It just never used to stop him from taking over the job every single time. Now – these days he always seemed to hesitate before offering Sam a hand up, he barely put up a fuss when Sam put in his own stitches, or taped up his own wounds, and Sam couldn't ask him why because he didn't want to risk an answer he couldn't live with. Like maybe Dean just didn't really care that much anymore.

...and I loved, loved, LOVED these few lines where the light finally turns on for Sam:

Dean's hesitancy was reminding Sam of those last couple of years he still lived 'at home', when he'd get hurt and Dad would try to help him with an edge of wariness, like he was expecting Sam might explode on contact. Which – truth be told – he just might have. Was Dean afraid of the same thing?

And, also as usual and I'm guessing that's one of the reasons why I ALWAYS love your stories, the dry humour you

wrote in Sam's thoughts (e.g. If that was trying, he didn't want to see accomplishing.) - HILARIOUS!

Concerned/worried Dean is always a bonus and you write him so o o well. Thanks just for this. ...and, of course,

I also loved how you had Sam responding to Dean's concern, his hesitancy and, finally, his help and closeness.

And for a moment, feeling closer to Dean than he had since before he almost couldn't remember, with his injuries tended to and Dean looking at him like he really cared what Sam was about to say, Sam was back in high school and Dean was his sure guard against all comers and nobody with lungs better ever mess with him.

Sam's utter contentment, even joy in the end just from being 'here' with Dean - so, so LOVELY!

Great missing scene. Guess it was worth Sam getting hurt 'there' as he had Dean concerned and taking care of him like he hadn't done in a while. And could so understand Sam hoping he wasn't lying when he said he was bleeding through the bandage. So nice to have a brotherly moment as there were sadly lacking in Season 4.

Great writing, you have the boys nailed.
