So Q has got a pet now, I guess. Trelane was a Q, obviously, and a certain Charly as well. This is what it always felt like when I watched the TOS episodes recaps knowing Q from the TNG episides aired at this time.

Let's see if I remember it correctly; Q is Trelane's father, but his mother is 'married' to a different member of the Continuum, so he ends up more playing the 'favored uncle role' - in fact, the only ones who actually know are Q, Trelane's mother and Picard - he's named Trelane, that is 'Trey Lane' because he at one point straddled three time lines and caused them to intersect - Prime universe, 'Yesterday's Enterprise' and a third where, among other things, Jack Crusher survived and became Captain of the Enterprise-D.

There is a plot in this somewhere. I SEE IT! It's really there! XD

Very strange story. Q being responsible for the beagle quite suddenly appearing on the Enterprise was quite original. The thing is, I don't think Trelane was a Q. For one thing, all Q would introduce themselves as such, except for Amanda Rogers. For another, the Q have had no children for untold millenia. That was what made Q's son so unique. We don't know what species Trelane was supposed to be, but I seriously doubt that he was a Q. Excellent story otherwise.

One thing for sure, Q always makes things interesting.

HA HA HA! Thank you for the laugh. I kind of like the idea of Q acting as an unseen force over the enterprise. I wouldn't want to see him interact face to face with the crew the way he did in "Next Generation" because I just don't see Captain Kirk ever being as perfect a straight man as Captain Picard. But as a behind the scenes cause of the occasional unexplained phenomenon, that certain members of the crew sort of suspect is there but can never prove, sure. Now the question begs to be asked, is Q the Enterprise's guardian angle of guardian devil?

Very funny. I love the idea that Admiral Archer's beagle would show up after all that time. I can only imagine Scotty's reaction when he realized what dog it was that was wreaking havoc on the Enterprise. Write more like it!
