Please do finish this. I'd never seen it before, but Neville deserves all the happiness he can get. And he & Ariel would make a very cute couple. Really looking forward to your next chapters. Thank you.

I really liked the scene in the first chapter of Neville seeing Ariel by the lake. I wish the SPaG were neater in this chapter, and I also found the boys' voices hard to hear.

I have some ideas on the mermaid if you wish.
*) I see the mermaid portrayed by Lily Collins in regards to a film version of this fan-fic of yours, because she is by far the best choice I can think of.
*) The mermaid's name is Cassia.
*) If she has any kind of magic of her own, perhaps she should have her own special kind of wandless magic like hydrokinesis (water related controlling powers), the ability to create and manipulate water.
*) The mermaid (Cassia) should have some sort of "siren song" enchantment/hypnotism that would possibly attract people, and maybe have some sort of "sonic screech" in regards when she gets angry to use on someone that angers her, but will not work on the people she cares for.
*) A mermaid's kiss is full of life when someone is underwater.
I have another idea for Hermione: she seems curiously suspicious why Harry, Ron, and Neville are looking for something near the Black Lake, but if she ends up forcing them to tell her and Neville tells her his story, she should be amused in the friendly way instead of being "logically" doubtful.
Perhaps whenever Neville is spending time with the mermaid, his confidence boosts a lot more.
If this is set during The Half-Blood Prince, I have some ideas for the mermaid to sing some songs (from the proper time of the year and before) if she "puts on a show" just out of boredom.

This is WAY better than just "so-so", this is AWESOME! It's about time Neville got a girl, though I've been a supporter of Neville/Luna. This story has a lot of potential, and I can't wait for an update! Of COURSE Neville would fall head-over-heals for Ariel, and when he actually meets her, she's going to confuse the heck out of him with her questions about the human world! Oh yeah! Keep it up!
