Time for another re-read of Embers :3

So Netflix is now streaming Avatar, which means my sister has finally started watching this series, which means she's been talking about it to me... "All the airbenders can't be dead, can they?" "Is there something 'wrong' with Azula?" "How come only waterbending has healing?" "Zuko has such a temper."

Oof. Which leads me back here, to the beginning. Because, let's face it, this mammoth of a story supersedes Avatar as canon in my head. And all I want to say to my sister is: "Oh, some of the airbenders escaped! Wait until you meet Ty Lee and some of the sandbenders!" "Azula is missing all of the water in her head. It's a thing." "Zuko hasn't discovered his firehealing yet. But it's really cool!" "Zuko is part dragon. Like literally."

Embers is still the best story/novel I have ever read, and I read a lot. Speaking of books, your "A Net of Dawn and Bones" was amazing and I can't wait to read the sequel!

This said so much in so little time and I love the introspection throughout: they were such small but powerful snippets and didn't bog down the narrative in any way.

Good point on Iroh's part. A horse thief's going to stick out a lot more than two refugees.

I like how you delve into Zuko's thought process leading to a different decision than canon. Part of it's self-serving in that it fits better with his plans to not bring unwanted attention to them, part of it is his wanting to be better and not forget who he was. And all going through his head amongst a sea of fears and insecurities. It makes it seem both frenetic and natural for him.

This was interesting. I'll admit that I only read it so that I can start 'Embers', though. Still, a decent one-shot. Certainly something to ponder.

Interesting that theft absolute was more heinous than murder.

Thought I'd try to leave reviews this time around. I really love Zuko in this. His thoughts are bitter and he's angry and afraid. Its actually a very good place to start an AU, now that I think about it. Anyways, thanks for writting this.
Now excuse me while I go off and read Embers for the fourth time (God help me).

Very nice choice...I liked hearing his thought process and seeing how much he cared.

The prequel to Embers, what I've heard is the best Avatar fanfic ever... interesting start, to say the least. I look forward to starting the main course.

Whoa, harsh laws. Nicely done! I can see this happening in-show. Somehow. . . .Hm. I'm sorta wondering why Zuko felt cold afterwards. Keep it up and Happy Story Weaving!

This was an interesting change, I'm going to check the sequel next to see how you developed it, but nice work on this one
