I loooooved this. What writing. What an idea. And best of all- Estel's language and expression as he convinces Erestor.
I went through all the stories on teitho in this category. And ur's was by far the best. I mean 'penance' did not even have a unique scenario for angst. It was an atypical self destruct story which has been done by fanfic writers of almost every sort of book. None of the stories in the category were as rewarding a read as this one. Complete. Conclusive. Humorous and angsty at the same time -no easy feat, and absolutely lovably adorable. I also liked the choice of character. Erestor has not been written abt much and so has not been over used to the point of tedium. It is also good to associate a history with a blank character. Hats off to you for this.

AMAZING STORY...
I really enjoyed reading...
and yes it is definitely possible to remember being only 2 yrs old. I can remember my second birthday...I got a teddy bear that I still cherish today!
so a frightening occurance like battle would very probably be remembered, unless in his young mind the fear and sorrow were too much and he blotted out the memory...that sort of thing can happen with deep trauma...
Thanks for the great read!

awwww!
Guest chapter 5 . 10/19/2012
Until you mentioned that the child was 5 I thought the child was 7 or 8.
Frodo's sister chapter 2 . 10/18/2012
Good story so far. I'm going to read more. I'd like to find out how Estel helps Erestor. Sometimes little children have wisdom that is not often found in older people. I don't know how old Estel was in this story, but I'm guessing he's 6 to 8 because he seems too old for a pre school age child and too young for a 10 year old.
The Pearl Maiden chapter 5 . 2/6/2011
I love you Erestor! *coughs* Ur...anyway...great story. It was decidedly adorable and sweet. Brava!
CosmicEssence chapter 5 . 10/3/2010
This is brilliant. Especially liked the account at the start and end and the way you depicted Erestor. Plus Estel's conversation with him was very much what you'd expect from an insightful and intuitative 5yr old (I've met a few myself). Elrond and the twins were also well played out. Lovely little piece...my only crit is that it would have been amusing to see the rest of the household's or at least the twins reaction to a 'playing' or smiling Erestor.
Emily chapter 5 . 1/6/2010
Erestor is one of those strange elves- everyone has him written the same way: always sardonic, often grim, and sometimes angsty. How strange that all the Erestor stories are written this way!

But I like him angsty too. Some one has to be. : )
Larner chapter 5 . 11/27/2009
A very nice ice- (or as Elrond changes it, glass-) breaker. Thanks for a nice read.
Larner chapter 4 . 11/27/2009
Indeed, sometimes in reaching for a simple joy we can lose the pain we thought was holding onto us when in reality we were clinging to it.
Larner chapter 3 . 11/27/2009
A sincere question does have a good chance to be answered, after all. Already a wise one.
Larner chapter 2 . 11/27/2009
Ah-the old "How much should we tell the children?" argument. I have a strong suspicion if anyone will understand, it will be Estel.
Larner chapter 1 . 11/27/2009
An interesting introduction. And he feels responsible for Gil-galad's death, apparently?
Tulip Proudfoot chapter 5 . 6/22/2009
I do not know the FFVII stories to which you refer, but it does not matter in the least. This story stands up well without the prior knowledge. Well done.
