The feels. I just had them. So many.

I remember this fic...it's still a favorite of mine.

I'll admit up-front, I'm horrendously picky when it comes to fanfiction. I don't rabidly support Ammy and Issun as a pairing for the sheer fact that I prefer them as a friendship-y dynamic duo..

But you went with a mood, a tone, and you pulled it off beautifully. The sheer style of writing and simplicity of the prose brought out an almost crystalline clarity. Nothing is really directly said, but you can always tell what's going on. Your allusions are subtle but effective... and it darn near brought me to tears.

Granted! The reader assumes they know what's being spoken of at every juncture, but you managed to make the details of the romance subtle enough that you could read a deep friendship into it. In fact... I'd recommend, really, that you play more into the friendship aspect of their relationship in further writing. One of my favorite things about the game was the simple dynamic between Issun and Ammy's friendship, where there was playful snark and utter dorkiness - and still with growth behind it. I think that the main thing that took me out of the story was simply the fact that it was sentimental. Beautiful! But hard to pull off with these two characters.

I also gather that your Ammy in this is human... I'd really challenge you to see what sort of things you could pull off with her being a wolf. It would mean less of the romanticism, but I think you could pull off the lovely characterization of these two with all the biting remarks and adventure while still adding a nice touch of something soft behind it.

That said... very well done! I certainly do hope you post more Okami fiction; I'd be excited to see what else you can tackle, Ammy/Issun or otherwise. Hope the comment was constructive for you. \o\ 3

I really liked your story. Short and sweet, and very cute, the ending was great... I loved it.

Tissues not really needed for this story, just some sugary drinks in my case... it's an okay story, I would have loved more exposition as to just what they do and how Issun copes with Ammy being gone for so long, tied up with her duties and whatnot, and this would have been a wonderful end to a long or short story as it summarizes what could have been a long chapter or a multi-chapter story focusing on one particular visit at a time. And no, you do not suck, I suck for writing this thing when I'm sleepy...
