Jenly chapter 33 . 9/3/2015
I am very, very much eager for an update to this story, whenever such an update might come. I completely adore Dyre and the tale you have woven here.

Amazing story :)
It's definitely one of my favorites! The plot is wholly original, and though I know you will never update again, I really enjoyed this story.

But this story is not over yet, so I will likely be back. Just to be absolutely sure that I will 'dislike' this story (D$%n you HOPE!) D:

Overall review from Chapter 1 to Chapter 33:

This story is different with mythology playing a great background role in it. It brings out many negative and positive emotions, and it is well written.

However, I do not like this story.

For one, I absolutely DESPISE any main character that is essentially useless throughout the story. Their whole presence is only to be different and unique because they are the main character, and little else. Dyre fall into this category to often for me. His reactions may have been 'realistic' to a degree, but I often felt like it was just a waste of time. He literally just went to his downfall, and then once he realized it, did absolutely NOTHING. In that instant, all his promises and his request for them to have faith in him ran thin for me. He wanted them to blindly believe in him when he could not even bothered to fight too return to them!? I mean are you serious!?

And this theme repeats to often in this story. So much so that Dyre came off as a well thought of character, but one who uses those around him to his benefit rather he willingly admitted to it or not. And they cared so deeply for him out of nowhere, that it just irked me. Especially when I realized that he would be the main cause for their despair.

I get that you maybe tried to excuse all of this because of what he has been through and what he would likely go through, but I could not give a F$%k about it. Like I had stated before, any sympathy that I had for the character of Harry Potter has long since dried out after THOUSANDS of authors attempted to yank it out of me using slightly different methods. At this point I am utterly numb to any grievance he will suffer in any story.

This help me realized how often he uses those around him, and how often the authors bend the characters will to make them eager to be used my him. All in the name of the 'love' they have for precious Harry Potter because he is so differently unique. -roll eyes- Uh, huh. Never falling for that troupe again.

The second thing that really had me finally putting this story in my 'dislike box' (So I would not accidentally re-read it), was that the supporting characters were nearly just as useless as Harry was.

...Why?

I mean, really, why did you make this story on such a weak foundation? Everybody essentially was so human or 'realistic' that it did not take much effort before they all toppled over.

Lets narrow it down to Draco Malfoy. He plays Harry's love this time around...and that is it. He seems to be put in this story for that role only, and that really disappointed me. Nothing deeper then him being tangled in the thorns of 'love' and later being strangled for falling in love with a living, breathing curse. Oh, but his suffering does not end once his lover (Who had promised that he would return by his OWN means, but nope. After grieving for three years his mother is bid to walk through hell in back to get one piece, and Draco is coaxed to get another. So much for returning by your own means, you butt-face). Now we get to see him fall in love with the canon Harry Potter who will likely put up a fight because the poor thing just does not no better.

Oh well. I am sure Draco will be just FINE with his emotions being played with on top of him having too fight Harry into loving him because of course Draco can not HELP but fall in love with Harry.

You know, because he is the main character...

To put it blunt: I strongly dislike stories that discriminate against supporting characters because it would better make the main characters image shinier. Or how they are given little dept because they are only their to better the main protagonist image. They solely exist to hold up the 'hero' of the story and carry him anywhere he wish.

I know this suppose to be their role. But it is off-putting when the author does not bother too give them more meaning, or even THINK too do so.

I would advised you to put more thought in their role, or at least have the protagonist not lean so heavily on them just because he can. Their roles were obvious with a bold line separating them. Harry Potter was to be the blinding sun that blinked out of existence, while Draco and the others had little choice but to suffer on humble earth without a sun too give them life.

It has been done before. And I FULLY agree that anyone could use the theme/topic/stoty-line again, and should if they want too.

But it is absolutely pointless if their is little difference between this story in the next. The idea was unique, but the way it was executed was not.

Thanks for posting, but I did not like this story (Though I did enjoy reading it).

-squints at the genre- Well, I do not see 'Tragedy' but that has never stopped many authors from killing off a main character without any warning and then leaving it at that.

Still, I think it would be wrong if Harry somehow managed to doge his prophecy in the end. It would cheapen the idea that their is something bigger and much stronger at play that us humans have no hope in even being able too poke it.

He is definitely a tool. But sometimes tools can be looked upon with fondness if things are dire enough.

Hmmm, still curious enough to click on the next chapters.

Q&A time!

...and the price.
Tblu2326 chapter 19 . 11/14/2014
Oh.

Summoning the Norns will lead to answers, but it is rather useless if he does not know what questions to ask to get those answers. And then their is the price that Harry must pay for using a cheat code.

I am curious.

Tblu2326 chapter 16 . 11/14/2014
Okay, before I forget this: I think the headmaster over-reacted. For one, Harry hasn't been the most opened person and it is not AT ALL surprising that they came to the assumption that him and that girl was dating/married. She was the one that was taken as Harry's important person, and they obviously have a close bond. I would have understood Dumbledore being disappointed and upset, but not spitting rage. I mean...really!? It was my first thought too, and I will not be impressed if this chapter continues on about having faith in Harry, or not assuming the worst of him because it hurt his feelings or whatever. They still BARELY know him. And I am glad that they were angry on Draco's part, even if it had been misplaced.

If Harry walks away from them over such a SMALL (And I see this a very small misunderstanding, and one that many would have automatically think towards too) then he is not worth their trouble.

Having faith or not assuming the worst of others should go BOTH ways.

Seriously, I will want to pinch some since into Dumbledore and Harry if the chapters goes that route. I am quiet tired of all the ass-kissing Harry is getting in this story just because he has 'suffered'. It is a VERY common theme in this fandom, and all my sympathy has long since dried out towards his character.

Please update this story. Its just such a wonderful story. It would be sad if you discontinued it.
Please continue on and give somewhat of a happy ending for Draco. Keep up the wonderful work. v

SignatureSinful chapter 33 . 8/19/2013
Guh, you every chapter always hits me hard, like a jab to the solar plexus. The quote at the end made my throat sting with sadness. Sadness at what has been lost.

Nevertheless, I desperately want to see more and I hope Draco can find the love that lay submerged here, waiting to be discovered again.

I very much enjoy this story, but I feel the need to point out that you change Sprout's first name every chapter you have her in. (It's Pomona, by the way).
