I've read this story several times and I don't know if I ever commented on this particular chapter before, but in the beginning of the chapter, you mentioned it taking Jasper weeks to get back to the states. Hawaii didn't become a state until 1959. My brainiac sister couldn't understand why my dad was considered a veteran of foreign wars, because he was based in Hawaii during the war. Being a bit of a history nut, I informed her (with glee) that Hawaii was not a state during WW2. Obviously, she didn't get all straight A's.

Sometimes the cultural norms of the 40's seem shocking to me, other times I feel very in tune with them and they way people act towards one another. I think the most glaring is how women were discriminated against, intellectually. What pioneers these women were had to (and got to) be.
This has been an amazing story. I love how Edward's time away was doled out in pieces. I tell ya, I was on the edge until the ending (and through Finding Liberty). Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for a remarkable story set during a very tragic and difficult time for all. Their journey had so much adversity that needed to be overcome, but their love for each other allowed them to do so in the end.

And then here, we don't hear anything of what Edward has to say about their intense convos about Tanya. Bella is a much bigger person than I am, I guess, I would never ever be able to take that all in stride like she is.

I love this story. But all the Tanya stuff has left this rock in my stomach. He's so right, he probably treated Tanya better in the months that they were together than he treated Bella in the whole time they were in Maryland
