Reviews for Prodigal Son
Rori77 chapter 1 . 7/1/2018
I read lolo popoki's "Only the Beginning" a while ago. This piece is a fitting companion, bittersweet too, but lighter, as it deals with the more upflifting part of the story.

Thank you. Your Hiko and Kenshin are always excellent
TOSoldtimer chapter 1 . 6/11/2014
Thank you for bringing completion to Lolo Popoki's heartbreaking "Prodigal Son". Your take on Hiko's changing relationship with a ghostly Kenshin is wonderful. And your word picture of the wandering Hiko as a crazy old drunk who talks to himself sticks in my mind, especially since it is Hiko who will have to do most of Kenshin's "helping people". Loved it.
Beyond Doubt chapter 1 . 7/24/2012
I've read lolo popoki's "Only the Beginning" fanfiction before. That had to be one of the only stories I've read thus far that had me bawling through every single chapter. It was so heartbreaking and soul shattering to think of Kenshin's end like that, but it was such a good story all the same despite it being left unfinished after all these years.

This was a great and satisfying continuation on her story :) You left me teary eyed and happy by the end of your fanfiction.

Thanks for writing!

Thank you! could you maybe write a sequel to this? I really enjoy this as well as the original fic and would love to see how it goes on...
skepsis66 chapter 1 . 2/1/2010
How touching... The bond between master and student is deep.
sueb262 chapter 1 . 12/2/2009
I'm amazed at how you managed to draw such a dark, bleak portrait of Hiko's present and (imagined) future, and then, with seemingly no real change in pace or tone, infuse this story with real warmth and tenderness. It really brought a lump to my throat several times. I love both the idea of their wandering "together", as well as how gently Hiko makes it Kenshin's choice. This is like a reunion, not just of their lives (if you will), but of their hearts which may not _ever_ have been able to happen while they both walked this plane.

Full of small surprises ("I have no ki anymore") and satisfyingly believable, this is a real treasure-in-a-box. It's going on to my favorites list, and I'll come back often to sit with them on that special spot and feel the cool night air on my skin.
Murasahki-chan chapter 1 . 10/24/2009
That was angsty, alright. Of course, Fatherly Hiko is one of my favorite characters, and you've done a great job of portraying his many facets: his well-staged ego, his shrewdness, his kindness, and his wisdom. But you have scared my cats: they are all cowering wondering why I kept going "Wah! Oh Hiko. . . oh no! Kenshin, how could. . .wah!"

Good job. Thanks for posting this.
skenshingumi chapter 1 . 10/24/2009
I love both the inspiration and this story. There is such a tentative tenderness between them that frankly makes me choke a bit.
ZukoFlame chapter 1 . 10/24/2009
I really like your interpretation! It doesn't seem at all AU to me. Your writing as always is excellent, and a very probably outcome to "Only the Beginning." I've been waiting for quite a while for the conclusion of the story, so I hope she finishes soon!
Me and my brain chapter 1 . 10/23/2009
That was brilliant! (and now I HAVE to see a fic where Hiko is talking to himself like a lunatic because no one else can see Kenshin...)
Jellybean06 chapter 1 . 10/22/2009
This made me smile. Even though it was more bittersweet than anything. Despite the fact that Kenshin decides to kill himself, it's a nice ending...going around Japan saving people with Hiko XD

And it definitely fits with Lolo's story. Nicely done!
Naomi chapter 1 . 10/21/2009
I am trying to figure out why this story only has 1 review. You to are epic writers in this genre. Anyways, I always did imagine lolo's story ending somewhere along these lines. Lord knows, I am still waiting to find out what happens and hope there is more to come. I do wonder how she would go about dealing with some of the issues you raised in your story (aka. Hiko talking to himself like a drunk). THe contemplative nature of this fic is nice. It is like flowing water, smooth at times and full of tripples and tension during others. It nicely charts Hiko's emotional state. The inner voice is quite believable. Hiko thinks in a rational manner despite the irrational situation he finds himself in. You maintain lol's voice well. I can believe this is truly the next installment in the story.
Crazy Hyper Lady chapter 1 . 10/21/2009
wow! That was awesome! That went perfectly with the story! :D
