I love how stumped Prowl was by the winter holiday season, especially the comment about mental illness. His greetings to Sarah were perfectly in character.

Prowl... yeah. We're walking paradoxes, there. Great to have him do that analysis.

I LOVED this chapter. I admit, I had to read it twice to fully understand it, especially the first part (didn't help that English is not my mother tongue and that the first reading was only more like a skimming in my lunch break), but the more I enjoyed the chapter when finally taking the time to really read it.

What I especially loved is the close look not only at how these aliens perceive human holiday traditions, but also at the relationship between Prowl and Prime. Once again we see Optimus as the patient bot he is, willing to go beyond to help Prowl overcome his glitch and understand us humans a little bit more. He’s caring for his bots and wants to personally make sure they feel at home on Earth. I pity Prowl; he’s one if not *the* sharpest bot the Autobots have, but he has still so much to learn to not glitch at every turn where us squishies are concerned. :D But with a teacher like Prime at his side, he’ll succeed, I’m sure. :)

But I also enjoyed the conversation and discussion about the binding theme of the various cultures’ holiday traditions itself. I never really think much about why we celebrate Christmas, or how certain symbols like the Menorah came to be, or what they even symbolize. Seeing it from an alien’s perspective is so very educating and makes me question things that until now I took for self-evident, like the kindling of candles. I very much loved the little excursus on human history and believes. There could be more of it; reading about human “quirks” from the Autobots’ perspectives, it’ll never be anything but interesting. *eagerly feeds plot bunnies* :p

As sophisticated as the first part was, as funny was the second one. From the various ways of how to respond to an invitation, over Skids and Mudflap pranking Epps, Ratchet and Sarah, to the bots’ reactions to Annabelle’s nativity set… it was a wonderful read. Makes me wish I could have such a Christmas too – with all the chaos involved. xD
