A beautiful tribute to the Sacred Band and also to Alexander and Hephaestion who did indeed mourn them and refuse to join in the celebration the rest of the army had after Chaeronea.

My apologies for this very late R&R. You give us a very poignant tale of the aftermath of Chaeronea. Of course the passing of the Sacred Band is a great tragedy, but you also bring us the universal horrors of war and killings. Your tale holds a special interest as you give us Hephaestion's POW on his first major battle. One can actually feel his remorse over the terrors he has been a part of, his sickness and his difficulties to accept what has occurred. As he somewhta recovers he sees another, also stricken by the terror. It is Alexander! They share their grief in a deeply moving manner.

WOW! Beautiful! The love and emotion that resounded in each line of this story brought chills through me... such a visual piece. I loved it M. Its wonderful to see that you were able to push aside those who tried to dissuade you to write further and stuck to those who really appreciate your style and writing.. there are by far more of us "fans" than the "others".

Your story touched my heart, hard. I've got tears in my eyes, because your figures are so sensitive! Phai, we know as well anyway, as everytime!

But even Alex shows his feelings for all the soldiers, who were also lovers, killed in action.

Once more their silent connection of emotions were improved.

The story of sacred band always brings teas in my eyes, especially when I think about Alexander and Hephaistion. How terribly they must have felt at their tender age of eighteen. I think you conveyed their despair and agony very well. It was soothing to know that at least they had each other.

This story is so beautiful and so sad! While reading it one can feel how emotionally drained both Alexander and Hephaistion felt after this battle. If any of them ever felt any fear going going into the battle, it was for their respective second part of the soul. What if only one comes back?

Their oath after the battle to never forget fallen lovers of the Sacred Band makes a logical conclusion for the story. I have no doubt that they gave each other such an oath in real life.
