Interesting. I think Polly would be more worried because unlike her last one where she knew the guy she was working with she's dealing with a stranger and pirates. I know how this much act's and if anything the crew would likely give her death glares for the slander they had. I mean it's one thing if they do stupid stuff but it's another when someone falsely accuses you of murder.

Polly will likely be the brunt of snide comments and prank's durring her stay.

Also judging by a rotary cannon for a Siege Zeplin well their is a problem it would have. It would need to be very big to store the proper amount of ammunition for that kind of gun. Not to mention considering the shear weight it will need to have very powerful engines and a lot of Hydrogin. All things considered This thing is going to be slow and would not have enough room for fighters with the armament it's going to have. It will need support Airships to provide fighter cover. The thing would be powerful against zepelins but useless against Fighters. At the speed it would likely go at it would not be able to get away from a determined attack group. Their are several weaknesses in designing a Zepline for shear firepower. Espisially with Fighters acting primarily against enemies.

Also you know Nathen has a plane that runs on Nitro for speed. He stole it from the Russians.

I will say that I think the Pandora is likely salvagable since it's only damaged in the fusalog. Since it's slowly going to the ground their will not be serious damage.

Cracking story! Good pace - I'd add a little more air action, perhaps some more description that sets it squarely in the thirties. Its a problem deciding whether to put something in to update readers from one instalment to the next but instead of exposition you could try weaving it into the action. Instead of saying the crew might not trust Polly because of her article, one of the crew might say during the briefing, "Why should we trust you after that article?"

This is a great idea. I wonder whether Doctor Marmole has been kidnapped by Totenkopf, or whether this story is totally unrelated to the Sky Captain movie. Either way, I can't wait to read more - thanks for posting this!

Sky Captain and Crimson Skies fit pretty well together, I dunno, but Crimson Skies has to have been a partial inspiration.

It'll be interesting to see how everything ties in.

Hopefully those blasted Brit's get shoved off again ;-)
