Absolutely and utterly beautiful. I've read this piece before and loved it, and I will probably read it again and regret that I've already used my only review. I ADORE how touching and mature this fic is, and how you've brought their group relationship into the future in such a tender and believable way. As always, it pleases me when Rimmer is portrayed well or with affection, and especially when it's so in character like this. It's wonderful. Your imagery and emotion is top-notch. You really get the feeling of the cruel, eternal, unstoppable march of time and its wearing effects on those of physical flesh as juxtaposed with the emotional growth of a man who will again be left behind once he's finally found a form of love. Tragic, yet beautiful. A real favorite. *Hugs them all.*

Wow... you're an amazing writer! I'm literally blinking back tears so my mother doesn't see me crying for apparantly no reason to her. I really love the idea of Rimmer changing like that over the years, because I've always seen him as having a softer side. And poor Rimmer. He just has to sit there and watch as all his friends and family come and go, and he can't do anything to stop it... poor guy. I loved that story, definitely favouriting it! :)

I just can't stand to think of Lister dying... too much to bear. :(

i read it and diidn't cry, but as i read other's reviews i thought about the story and now the tears are welling up. a couple of annoying questions though, are Cat, Kryten and the Rimmerr from series 8 all dead?

That was so moving, and so true. Rimmer does change as he spends more time with the others - and changes for the better. It's totally believable that one day he would be like this, even over Lister.
