I revisited this fandom and this story. Don't ever delete this please. Perfection. I mean I rarely read satisfying scenes so this is a gem.

Ahhhh so so so so good. I stretched out this last chapter bc i didn't want it to end! (Yes yes i know the sequel is ready and waiting but /still/)

I can't get over how much i love the back and forth parallel conversation as they both find out what happened in the end of the war

And i will never be over how much i absolutely positively adore this fic. Like. So much

Ahhhhhhhh still good always good

The evil lair is burned and there is good good conversation and emotional soul bearing and all is well

I love ao many things about this chapter that it would take too long to list them all out

But what a wonderfully written pair of fight scenes

And what a viciously satisfying end to seishiro

What a fantastic transitional chapter as things are about to continue happening again plot and actionwise but /so much/ happens between the two of them and it's all good and they're finally on the same page and the same side and they both know it and they both know how the other feels and it's /good/

so good so good so good so good

And so like kurogane to bully some sense into fai with steadfast logic when there are no good options but all of the alternatives are worse

And also for him to break up the rush of wonder and thought and emotion in the meeting of two minds and two souls in a fantastical magic landscape with "nobody's /that/ tall" help it kills me every time

AHHHHHHHHHJHHHHHHHHHHHJHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHJJJJJHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YES YES GOOD

I MEAN IT'S ALL AWFUL

BUT GOOOOOOOOOOOD

You know how if you read something so many times that you can expect turns of phrase coming around each corner and settle into them comfortably as you might with a chunky oversized blanket and mug of cocoa on a cool rainy day?

That's this fic

Another just fabulous chapter. I love each and every one of these scenes sooooooo much that it's hard tp choose favorite bits and pieces but i do love the poor guard trying to talk ashura out of the duel, and kuroganes surprise once the fight begins, air finding put kurogane tried to come see him, and the way they keep talking past each other in their respective hurt, and literally all of the yukito scene too - the dialogue and kuroganes worry about /what on earth is going on/ and the description of the portal...!

You know it really doesn't matter how many times I've read this before or that I know what's coming and what fais backstory is here but every single time I sit /mesmerized/ by the way you've written this conversation and I hang on every description of ashura while he tells kurogane the history of valeria with as much emotion as he ever shows

And then sakura is just a breath of fresh air, bless her

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and now we get to all of the parts where kurogane has to try to be civil and diplomatic ahaha this is always so fun to read XD

Let's just...read this chapter like five times in a row and let the phrases mull around in our heads until they've become the comfortingly familiar angst scenes of choice

...And then read it again one more time for good measure

Ahhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HERE WE GO

What a great chapter! What good turbulent emotions! What excellent tension! What complicated concerns from both sides in the cold cold rain! What deep yet undue grieving back in the court!

Man I'd forgotten how this chapter goes from maic lessons to fights (and such /good vivid/ fights) to this last bit where fai finally takes the plunge
