Since Jacob is described in this chapter as having long hair, it must mean that he hasn't phased into a wolf yet. That means he wouldn't be friends with Paul or Sam. He only became close to them after he changed into a shifter. He was close with Embry and Quil before the phase though. Also, it's weird that he says he's going to meet Sam in town. Bella has no clue who Sam is, so realistically, Jacob would have only said "a friend" rather than naming a person Bella obviously wouldn't know. That's standard for conversation in any world. I was disappointed with how similar the conversation was to the movie version. Additionally, why is Jacob not in school? He's also 15, so probably wouldn't be driving around without his dad.

Lastly, Bella not minding Jacob fantasizing about her is actually ridiculous. She just met him and they barely spoke for a few minutes before he was already imagining himself under her shirt. Romantic or not, that would be so uncomfortable. He's two years younger than her, basically still a kid, and obviously a horny one at that. I still find it very strange that Bella ever went to a party, much less approached an attractive man and decided to go for a walk alone with him even though he was a complete stranger. Bella from canon would never have done that, and it seems like you're trying to stick to canon Bella up until her kidnapping. It would have made more sense if she was snatched off the streets walking home one night or something. Bella is way too insecure and responsible to go to a party and approach a guy.

The wolves are entirely out of line here (no matter how much that is, sadly, in character). They have no business basically ordering an unknown but innocent person to come before a firing squad of a tribunal that thinks it should have say over whether she lives or dies. I'm sure wherever they're going will have more wolves than the defense group of two they have 'allowed', and so it is an absolutely imbalanced and prejudiced setup they are expecting her to willingly walk into being subject to? There is no reason the Cullens should deign to tolerate this!
