That was wonderful and sad and sweet. I loved how you characterized Ted, with all his fussing and lecturing and dad-ness. And I love your description of Barney's thoughts, the emptiness and pain and denial and everything. The ending was sweet and sad at the same time: both bringing into focus how miserable Barney is without Robin, and how he's not really alone when he has friends. And Ted's line:

"Do you care about any of us at all? Do you care about leaving us behind? Don't you think we'd…"

I think Barney *doesn't* really think they'd...anything. Probably doesn't think it would count as leaving them behind, because they can't possibly really love him enough to truly miss him. Great, great introspective.

Poor Barney. This was really, really, really good, but also wicked depressing. I always felt really bad for him, and the situations he finds himself in.

You really write all the himym characters perfectly in character. Awesome job

Nice-I can just picture this ending. Especially like your Ted here: "It was harder when Ted got there because Ted slipped quickly into full-on Dad-mode, sucking the air in between his teeth and shaking his head sadly. "Is this some kind of stunt?" Ted asked him, expecting a punch line. "Are you trying out some new play? The I've just fallen in the water? Because I gotta tell you, pal, that's pret-ty lame."

wonderful ending to this amazing episode! This is what happend and I've checked the fan fiction page every day to see if someone finally posted a decent ending. This was what I've been looking for and waiting for. And it's no surprise at all that the good stuff came again from you.
