that was an interesting perspective - i can't see how he would think that he had been responsible for shishio's death since it was shishio's choice to fight and kill his lover rather than be incapacitated and taken into custody to stand trial and kenshin didn't know of his limitations therefore he had no reason to blame himself. nicely expressed, i especially liked that kaoru had power over his nightmares.

I recall you talking about this story some time ago but never got to read it. I think it's actually the first fic I've seen to approach Shishio's death this way, and it works.
