Reviews for A Beginner's Guide To Pokémon
anothersignalman chapter 9 . 12/30/2018
I'd like to see this summary updated to include Fairy types.

Also, perhaps some discussion on why certain types *don't* exist, i.e. Glass? I'd nominate Solrock (not Lunatone), the Gigalith line, Cryogonal, Onix and Stakataka evolutions, a new Forme of Wormadam, Necrozma, regional variants of Nosepass, Porygon, Carbink, Diancie and the Chandelure line. The Regirock/ice/steel/gigas group are also candidates, explaining their 'Clear Body' ability.

Sandslash might've worked if it didn't already have the Ice variant. Trapinch is an option, though Vibrava and Flygon not so much. Maybe an alternate evolution of Sandygast or Hippowdon? Minior would have been a candidate if not already part-Flying type; perhaps a pre-evolution glass/flying type could be introduced, and some catalyst transforms that into Minior.

Trying to think what the weakness/resistance pool should be like; I want to avoid it being too close to Steel, Rock and/or Ice types.

Defending against:
Weak to: Ice, Steel, Rock, Fighting
Resistant to: Fire, Electric, Water, Poison, Bug
Neutral from: Normal, Grass, Ground, Psychic, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Fairy
Immune to: Flying (guess why? :P )

Attacking:
Super-effective: Bug, Rock, Psychic, Electric, Fighting (in lieu of Fairy)
Not-very-effective: Fire, Ground, Ghost, Steel
Neutral: Normal, Grass, Water, Poison, Dragon, Dark, Fairy, Flying
Useless against: Ice

Converted attacks: Aurora Beam (former Ice); Light Screen, Mirror Coat, Prismatic Laser, Reflect, Wonder Room (former Psychic), Cut, Camouflage, Double Team, Laser Focus, Reflect Type, Sharpen, Shell Smash (former Normal), Rock Polish (former Rock)

Other moves I'd consider - Dazzling Gleam, Diamond Storm, Flash, Flash Cannon, Harden, Magic Coat, Power Gem, Protect, Razor Wind (if not Flying), Spotlight, Wide Guard

Thoughts?
Anakin Mario Son43 chapter 44 . 9/19/2018
Personally, I feel like if you want to change things or keep things, it's up to you. Only do it if it flows better. Just be consistent. I also like the bits focusing on Kudzu himself, and would like more scenes featuring him. Finally, screw you Thanos. Half the damn universe.
SinnohFirefly chapter 44 . 9/11/2018
I have to congratulate you on this extraordinary story that you've poured your heart and soul into! It's definitely been one of my favourites and I will always cherish fondly reading each chapter for the intelligence, originality, creativity and wit you put in each of them, as well as all your hard work. It's a pity life and adulthood have impeded the progress of this beloved story, but that's perfectly understandable and we can accept that and give you as much space and time as you need. I'm tempted to say keep the whole lot as it is because it was so good, but editting it as needed but maybe starting from scratch isn't a terrible idea either. Follow your heart and do whichever makes you feel the most comfortable. I personally would be interested in more frequent scenes focusing on Professor Kudzu, but that's just me. Congratulations on making it thus far and for your wonderful story. Can't wait to see what the future holds! Good luck and happy writing!
The Dragon Legend chapter 44 . 8/31/2018
For a while there, I forgot this story existed. Still, I am glad to see that you didn't simply abandon it. I would defiantly like to see the new version of the story. Defiantly keep the Kudzu focused parts to things like "changes brought on by new games" I believe I mentioned before that I liked how this read like a textbook and I think focusing too much on Kudzu would detract from that.
The Anguished One chapter 44 . 8/31/2018
This is such a pleasant surprise. Kudzu feeling like he needs to begin anew after all the new information from S/M/US/UM makes sense to me. Please, take all the time you need, both to begin the second iteration and how that itself updates. I always liked the scientific explanations behind the Pokemon's abilities and the warnings associated with how difficult the Pokemon can be to raise. There's certainly nothing I'd want removed, I loved how this read.
Tzardok chapter 44 . 8/31/2018
I am just happy that you didn't just say "screw it" and abandoned this fic altogether.
Good luck with the new story.
I'll wait with bated breath.
noddwyd chapter 2 . 6/29/2018
Got it, so a Golbat evolving into Crobat is like a marriage proposal.
betsybugaboo chapter 43 . 12/25/2017
Wow! This is great! One of the few decently written Pokemon fics, and one that doesn't indulge in unnecessary grimdark elements. Your humor is creative and your writing concise. I know that this is a daunting task to compile, seeing as there are now 800 Pokemon, so I salute you wholeheartedly for your ambition!
Lucasnox chapter 13 . 9/7/2017

Wailord and a skitty, wailord and A SKITTY, thats one dead skitty
infernap chapter 1 . 8/30/2017
You've done a really great job on this! Are you working on a second set of errata?
Well made chapter 1 . 7/19/2017
I enjoyed this and it was helpful
Generation VI chapter 9 . 4/16/2017
Where's the Fairy-Type?
Generation VI chapter 4 . 4/16/2017
Re: primary flying-type: Noibat and Noivern disagree.
Elven-in-name chapter 7 . 2/12/2017
Well, I was expecting(hoping, really) for Steel-type this chapter, but the ones you wrote about were nice, too. And you were very good at describing them. All.
I guess I just have to wait for the cool Steel and Psychic.
Elven-in-name chapter 6 . 2/12/2017
Cool. Three types that I really like.

And the explanations for all of them were cool.

And I loved the puns on professor's names...Ts...tesla and belladona! Ha!
