I really enjoyed this fic. Loved your characterisation of Arielle as the daydreaming mischievous younger sister. She is such an awesome mum. But what really got me was your portrayal of young Lirael. It's true that at that age she wouldn't be an outcast among the other children, because kids don't care about stuff like that. She is quite precocious, that it's actually quite tragic how greately she will change after ten more years in the Glacier. The bit with dressing up in her mother's Clayr outfit was simultaneously adorable and sad as well, because we all know that it really will be "just this once". And small children may be out of character for you, but you did it well. In fact, you should only write about small children from now on!
