Oh Lord of Nightmares...

Xelloss, bringing in one of your 'friends' to your (and Filia's!) house without consulting the lady of the house was just bad manners. Clearly, he's not thinking in the right frame of mind - the human male one.

XDXDXD "But you and I have a...a rather different sleeping arrangement already in place." "Not tonight we don't." Such an elegant way of the wife telling him "You're sleeping on the couch tonight". Or rather, in the guest room, with the other guest.

Go Filia! That's the way to get one over Xelloss, the rude monster! Bringing up some stranger into the house like that without asking for permission...he must've thought that because he lives with Filia, he can invite anyone he wants. He may have studied humans for a long time, but he didn't quite get into the specifics between a man and a woman in a particularly intimate relationship.

One of my favorite vignettes ever!

The other one was Prophecy, which I did not write an adequate review for. Xelloss going to a psychic (who could be a phony) for an opinion on his love life? Lord of Nightmares, he must be quite desperate to have to go to a human for that kind of fortune. (What would Lord Beastmaster say?) And then, he gets told by Madame Placenta (XD That name!) that he has a romantic rival in one Valgaav, last of the Ancient Dragons...that must have been a total eye-opener. Literally. "He's in her bed" was the final nail on the coffin. And of course, like any offended male romantic rival, Xelloss declares it such nonsense that he claims it was just to kill time, only to ponder on such a prediction elsewhere and then make those mistakes in the battle with Valgaav. Of course, he has to off his romantic rival before Filia can ever love Val that says 'I'll show you!' and 'There's no way you and her are EVER going to be together, so I'll stop it!', a big F*CK you prophecy which is utter bull.

The end of it was so heartwarming. Xelloss besides Filia in bed, with baby Val going to their room and sleeping with mommy!Filia. The prophecy is fulfilled, indeed!

Figures Xelloss would gather information via spying on Filia. He knows her too well, though, to bother with confirming that she would not become the Supreme Elder of her former God. Filia takes raising Val seriously. It was seriously a Crowning Moment of Awesome that she said "This world will have to change". As a priestess, she did a pretty good job of following her mission giving by her elders. As a businesswoman, she is ruthless. As a mother, she is devoted and loving and very protective.

Either way, it would benefit the Mazoku and Xelloss (especially him) to have Filia as Supreme Elder of the Fire Dragon King. She could be used as a puppet, and as an opponent, she can't match up to Xelloss (or any of the other Mazoku generals or priests) in terms of power. She could be easily overtaken, and taking her out would only prove to be good for the monsters.

With her not taking the position, the Mazoku race can just pick off the other two temples anyways. With Filia out of the (harm's) way, Xelloss can go about his daily business of whatever it is Beastmaster orders him to. It's just like him to give her backhanded compliments though. Filia raising an army of Golden Dragons would be terrifying, if she were so inclined.

But since she's inclined to keep Val and the rest of her odd family safe and sound, she is a danger in her own right.

Heh, Xelloss bidding her farewell by telling her not to have any other golden dragons when he's gone is terribly funny.

Awww, Xellos really does care for Filia!

Even in these short ficlets, you pay attention to the other characters. Amelia here, especially, who is so used to seeing Xellos and Filia get into arguments about nearly everything, can tell how discomfited the mazoku trickster priest is with a mortally wounded Filia. It was a shock to me, because hey, she's a Golden Dragon, whose strength and stamina is 1000 times that of a human. Having something like wood fall on her would be like debris scattering on her shoulders.

Or so I thought.

It was reasonable to stay in that burning house to get that book on Ancient Dragons for Val's sake. What any mother would want to do for her child, especially if its about them. Some would call her actions foolish, like Xellos, but he's been around her for so long that he knows how important it is to her to do this for her son.

And Amelia knows Xellos well enough that he could just be concerned about this particular piece of info about Ancient Dragons to save Filia. But, why not just take the book then? Why bother with his ancient enemy?

As strong as he is, Xellos does not have Amelia prowess with white magic and healing. With him watching her as he is, Amelia can feel his feelings about Filia.

I really appreciate your oneshots, they are so original, and you depicted them amazingly: it's all there, Filia's naivety, Xelloss' cleverness, their so peculiar relationship... I think you're one of the few author who really managed to show them without going OOC, and this is definitely the best collection about them I've ever read! I hope you will add more chapters! Poor innocent Filia didn't read between the lines of what was being said, it was super funny, especially to see how the old dragons dodged the subject.

Too bad Filia was already convinced to refuse, I am pretty sure Xellos would have more than liked to contribute to the convincing more actively xD. This was perfect, I am so glad you came back! I hope we get more of this awesomeness!

Awww, you're alive. That's cool, I was quite pleasantly surprised when I saw this title in my mailbox.

This is pretty adorable, as always. Fillia being oblivious to the more... obscene purpose of having here as a starting point for the temple is perfectly typical.

Are you back for longer was this just a one-off thing? I assume the dragons won't give up so easily. Are we in for some more hilarious attempts at wooing Fillia while she's just cringing at the whole circus?
