Reviews for Grieving in Blue and Orange
Rain chapter 1 . 6/8/2018
Wow. This is the content I'm living for in the Animorphs fandom. I love the attention to the "smaller" characters of the book. This delves so deep into Andalite culture, parents-in-mourning, and the character of Arbron, who I admittedly didn't really consider the depth of what he has overcome and done while reading the books. Fantastic fic, made me tear up a lot.

This was so sad, but really good. Thanks for writing this.

Dear alikat:

It gladdens me that someone thought to chronicle this particular collision of cultures. Many thanks for that.

However, I do have one quibble. Is it really fair to the Taxxons to make them use broken English in thought-speak? There's no indication, in the books, that Taxxons are simple-minded the way that Hork-Bajir are. Yes, their hunger tends to derange them, but that's more an issue of overly strong emotions than of overly weak intellect; Taxxon-Controllers, after all, have the same problem. And yes, the Taxxon language is phonetically limited, but that could also be said of the Chinese, and they manage to think all right.

Oh, and there is one other thing. Since the Taxxon mourners are all anaconda nothlits, shouldn't the title of the story be "Grieving in Blue and Yellow"?

Sincerely,
Qoheleth

You are one f*cking brillent b*tch. I read all of your Animorph stories and every single one beautifully captured all of the characters. At first, I was disappointed that there wasn't a lot of Ani-fiction, but then I reakized that though there isn't much, it is of higher quality than with other, more popular series, like Harry Potter. Good job, you genius f*cknugget.

This is amazing! You always know how to handle these little delicate problems, that most people probably don't even think about, in the best way possible.

This was really touching. Not just because it was the traditional sadness associated with funerals, but on so many different levels - Taxxon? and Andalite disgust. The portrayal of Andalites as a proud species and reluctant at the funeral were well done - cruel, but apt.

All in all, this is a great piece. Another fitting tribute to a character that really deserved more. Your writing's really excellent.

This was beautiful! :) I love your one shots - they always carry so much emotion and focus on points of the Animorphs story that weren't really given any room in the book series!
