and the one with Varona and Namie fighting (I, personally, believe it was spot on. Izaya and Shizu-chan, those hypocrites. xD

By the way, I do have one question. I have absolutely nothing against it, but why do you keep having Izaya call Shizuo "Shizzy-chan". when he calls him "Shizu-chan" Shizu-chan is typical nickname used with female names like Shizune or Shizuka/Shizuko,and stuff. Apparent when he was still in middle school with Shinra, he heard a girl talking about "Shizu-chan" and thought it was a girl, until he met him, and started applying it to "Shizuo" sometime after they had met.

Anyway... aside from of all of that, (not trying to sound pushy, I promise, but I just love Izaya and feel connected to him in many ways, and you're doing really good, but) if you're curious about Izaya's personal thoughts and lot more insight of his character(as well things that were utterly cut out from the anime, such as why his sisters became the way they did, Izaya admitting that Shinra is someone who he probably aspired to be like, punching a telephone pole after realized one of his only friends "by human standards" would probably be mad at him if he had found out about him taking the head with him to meet Celty. His thoughts were, "There's nothing to be afraid of... This is the way I've always lived my life" were his thoughts, but he certainly didn't mess with Celty much anymore. Although, he did lie to his sisters by saying that his swollen hand just happened in one of his recent fights with Shizuo,which they seemed to believe, and then him actually insisting to Celty through text, "I am not the one who hurt Shinra. I'm not stupid enough to hurt my friend. I have few enough of them as it is." (if you've not) you should totally read Volume 9 of Durarara! I REALLY suggest you I do. Even if you watched episode 8 and 9 of x2 Ten, I assure you still get something out of it (I know I truly did), beside of the fact that there is actually also an official 'lecture' from Simon to Izaya that I read that Simon actually recognizes that Izaya, in the end, just slashes around his knife and sure talks a lot, but would be able to face having blood on his hands, because he's just a coward and loves his humans. (I think that if he killed someone, he wouldn't fill fit to be their 'god' anymore.)

It seems like everything he does makes people hate him, but, if you think about it, nobody ever died because of him, and, in the long run and even if it weren't supposedly his intentions, Masaomi and Saki were able to come to terms with their feelings for each other, and I also believe that he knew Celty would save Rio. Yeah, he did drug Miyoshi(in the 3 way standoff-manga), but he also gave him a free trip to the airport and a little good luck 'charm'. it's my own believe he sent him him off in such a way, because he knew he 'has to treat all humans the same' and just didn't want to have to say goodbye. Plus, Shinra did say himself, "He may seem cold-blooded, but he's actually more human and his heart more brittle than anybody else's, so much so that, if it was filled with human love or betrayal, it would break easily, which is why, I think, he choose from the start to avoid it all, to love humanity, you understand? Not to fact it, not to accept it, but to avoid it." ((To which, when he finds out Shinra told Manami that, he says 'Damn him', all because he knows it's true..))

He also set up that whole Summer Fesitval, too(after Mikado mentioned it on one of the Dollars forums), in the Minidura(Chibis are so cute!) manga, and everyone, even Shizuo, ended up having fun(though Shizuo still tried to kick him out of Ikebukuro once again and misunderstood why he was even there...)

Sorry, I seriously have a little bit too much time on my hands and do a lot of research on him(my relationship with my own brother, in fact is a lot like Izaya's and Shizuo's.)

Anyway, I do have some possible chapter ideas.

Izaya Namie waking up 'locked' in a closet.
Why does Izaya always wear long sleeves? ((Believe it or not, even Narita doesn't know.)) Possibly, he has a tattoo he got, just as any a traditional member of Yazuka get.), or, maybe, he has scars? He seems like the person who would be glad to show off his upper body, so I kind of think there's just something he's hiding from everyone, that he doesn't want anybody to see. (Can you believe, on the Beach cards he was the only one wearing long sleeves? He was even wearing it in his inter-tube in the water! xD) I think it could be really cute if she was started questioning it because it was summer and their air conditioner had went out. and when she started asking him those questions, he would be, as typical Izaya would, darting around it with more questions, "just to tick her off". maybe Namie would think "Maybe even someone like him is afraid of being judged, after all."

Then there's this idea(I feel like such a terrible human for asking it). I mean you did kill Seiji(and Izaya even considered his sisters in the equation(((In volume 9, it actually states that "even though his sisters were a headache," they were were just much like any other humans (and Izaya also says that when his parents left(dumped) Mairu and Kururi on him, he didn't know how to take care of them. Shinra says that they became like are ((chose their personalities by the flip of a coin when they were younger))) when they were still elementary school. Apparently, Izaya told them "You both are the exact same in every aspects, so why even bother trying to be different?"((or something to that effect)) He assumes Izaya had no ill-will against them, but just 'wanted to see'. Shinra also believes that Kururi and Mairu first just wanted to gain Izaya's(their older brother's acknowledgement, but then it became an obsession to the point they "became one" and made up for each other's flaws.) I actually have a head-canon that they were really clingy to Izaya before that, and he didn't like being relied on, especially after the thing that happened with Nakura stabbing Shinra. Maybe he pushed them away in such a 'mean' way, because he did care(but didn't want to admit it) and was afraid of them getting hurt by him indirectly because of his choices(just like what happened, and Izaya's feeling of weakness, and lack of control of his emotions(that was described in Volume 9), envy for Shinra(being able to take a knife wound to not even save /him/ but just to impress Celty and gain her praise). Naturally because of their distance, Izaya is jealous seeing them being so nice to Shizuo...

I believe that it would be so adorable if Namie realized that he couldn't(and why he was being so only AFTER dragging along and unwilling and resentful Izaya to some pool party, Namie says he not a child, therefore doesn't need some inter-tube like one, and 'forcing' him into a large pool, because she thinks he's just being a spoiled child, and not and wanting to participate(like he does her) because he didn't get to bring his 'toy'. Poor guy...

Another idea?

-Sulking!Sad!Wantingtocryinspite!Pouty!butgodsdon'tcry! type of Izaya birthday fic? Unexpected comforting!Namie? And one unexpected birthday present of which she invites Shinra (who naturally invites Celty, go figure xD), and um...Dotachin and the Van Gang(Togusa can be at one of Ruri's concerts or something if you don't want to have him play a part or anything, maybe?) You don't have to, though, but I just love Erika and Walker xD.

Fact: Izaya's birthday is on Greenery Day.

-Izaya waking up, crying some nightmare(possible example: He was all alone, and there was practically nothing. He heard many voices, including Namie's, but, when he tried to call out, nobody heard him? Maybe, in the dream, he thought he had lost himself and would never see anybody again, and would never be able embrace anybody again, or something like that?) and Namie is there for him?
(((did you know that after the events of x2 Ketsu, Izaya is actually suffering common signs of PTSD? Nightmares, not accepting treatment? Just excepting his injuries as 'punishment' for loosing to Shizuo. In the Sunset Novel he actually asks someone named Sozoro if there would come a time when he'd be able to walk on his own again. She says, "Is that not what the doctors said?" that if he were to accept therapy he should be able to. But then he corrects himself, saying, "I'm asking if there will come a time when I'll want to run about on my own again." It truly makes me sad. and I'm not just saying that, either. I actually feel very connected to Izaya in so many ways, and can most assuredly see the kindness within him. He's never r ped anybody(unlike Izumii who was about to do so to Earthworm and even Mikage. And Unlike Takashi who sexual thoughts about Anri and was thinking or talking, one, about taking advantage of Kujiragi in a sexual way, as well even pretty much taking advantage of Haruna while she was asleep. Beside of the fact that Nasujima is also the one responsible for running over Dotachin, and then there's Jinnai Yodogiri who hired Varona and Sloan to kidnap Akane, a little girl, and was taking pornshots of Ruri and also hired Akabashi((who Izaya left locked in his apartment)) to nearly kill Shinra for the sole purpose of possible provoking Celty, and stabbed Izaya for thwarting his plans in kidnapping Akane. Jinnai

I love how you wrote this story! I think the flashback was good too. As for Izaya's sisters, they are having an incestuous relationship with each other. That, and Namie's incestuous feelings for her brother, made me decide to not watch Durarara.

I love the story so far. It's really fun, Izaya chasing Namie all over the place like did Izaya want to make Namie do if he won?
