A delight to read. I have always loved the movie-I make different people sit down and watch it with me- and frankly still think HAL is the most sympathetic character. Your HAL's trips through logic, emotion, even philosophy endeared him to me-he is more thoughtful than some supposedly sentient human beings, more humane that some humans. A wonderful character, in short, which I am impressed to note was developed in one chapter.
