Finally got around to reading this one. It's been on my tabs for months. Anyhow, this was excellent as usual. A death of atonement is really the only way to go with Megatron and this one was just poetic. I love how even he acknowledges that he has a taste for theatrics.

I first read Cybertronian Genesis a few years ago, but I fell out of the TFA fandom before I could really get into this story. After getting sucked into the fandom again I knew I had to come back here, and all I can say is WOW! Your first story was amazing. This one is absolutely phenomenal! It's everything I could have ever hoped for and more. I've never gotten chills while reading before, but this fic managed to send a shiver down my spine. Specifically, I'm referring to the final scene with Ultra Magnus. It completely blew me away.

Speaking of being blown away, I can't believe it's been almost a decade since you first published this fic, and you're still committed to finishing it. I very much admire your dedication.

By Primus this whole story has just been spectacular. So much development happened, specifically one comes to mind as the greatest. With Megatron being the villain with a list of crimes spanning his lifetime, his gradual change to the self sacrificial hero with the same list attached, but using that list to guide his current actions towards the better of the cybertronian race... Except I am having doubts about that. His story ended perfectly, too perfect in my opinion. Knowing Megatron, he's usually ten steps ahead in all directions, and having read your stories, so are you. I have no confidence in this theory, but only time shall tell whether or not Megatron "survived". He did so before in a similar situation and he may have done so again. But you are the author. Surprise us all, as you always manage do

Gotta say, I love what you've done to Megatron in your stories. You give real depth to the 'evil enemy commander' of the Decepticons, showing him as (at least in his own mind) something of a freedom fighter for his people, and also of course his narcissim, his ego, his megalomania, which were fully on display here when he tried to stack the odds in his epic duel with Optimus Prime. That was stunning to begin with. But in these later chapters, you've also done wonders to explore his charisma, his public speaking, and show that, perhaps in another life, he could've been a hero or a contemporary of humanity, the same as the Autobots. And here, in this latest chapter, even willing to sacrifice himself for what he truly believes in, for Cybertron, for the home he can never go home to.

Love it. Loving every last little bit of it. Thank you so much for continuing this epic tale of transforming alien robots.

Had a major plot error in the chapter ‘Siege of Polyhex’. How did the Constructicons get to the defensive wall with the Shield still up? The way it’s written they are standing on the surface and digging down against the wall. It would have made more sense to have them function as traditional sappers, start a tunnel behind the front lines and dig under the Shield as well as the curtain wall. From the previous chapter they wouldn’t have even been able to get to the wall because the Shield would stop mechs as well as incoming fire(It stopped Starscream and allowed Optimus and Starscream to have a face to face confrontation). Excellent storyline in both volumes just thought I’d point out this discrepancy maybe for a rework with them tunneling in from behind. Thank you for the hard work and excellent writing in this AU.

I never thought I'd see the guy as noble, but by gum you did it!

...damn. Just...damn!
Never thought I'd see Megatron of all bots go out a hero...and he really does it so well! And oddly enough, I think those last words are going to do more than even his sacrifice. Starscream knows that Gigatron is just a future version of Megatron...and he just beat Megatron. Starscream's ego and fear are his two most shaping forces for his Spark...and those last words will strongly tip the balance towards Ego.

Excellent these two chapters and the end of Megatron, was worthy of a redeemed warrior

Well that was an unexpected ending but a very enjoyable one. And I love the idea that Megatron has rehearsed his last words.

Welcome back to the world of Transformers Animated, my friend!

I cannot truly describe how uplifted my spirits felt when I opened my email inbox and saw a notification update for this masterpiece of a story!

Honestly, after so many years, and with the recent TFA convention where it's becoming pretty clear that Hasbro and IDW really don't seem to want to continue TFA, at least we'll have your stories to fill the void that the best Transformers show left behind.

Let's start with the review proper:

What a way for Megatron to go.
Giving his life to protect the Earth and Cybertron.
You wrote a redemption arc for Megatron better than any attempt that Hasbro has ever done.
Megatron's past sins weren't forgotten, but he let it define his final acts of heroism, and he truly came back to the light.

And to think he was ended by Starscream.
How wonderful and poetic and beautifully tragic to see how their relationship with each other progressed throughout your saga.
From Megatron hand-picking Starscream as his second-in-command all the way back in the Great War, to finally giving himself up as bait to distract Starscream from winning right here, right now.
What a journey of evolution for the Decepticons, and for those two.

Another highlight for me was the goodbye between Sari and her father.
Isaac Sumdac is on my list of best fathers in fiction, and you've done him justice in your saga, with his fatherhood to Sari all culminating in this chapter.

And Lugnut's story comes full circle with his ascension from most loyal servant to most loyal friend.
Absolutely a golden moment for TF storytelling in whatever form.

Post-review afterthought additions:

Things have been really busy for me as of late. I'm in my second year of uni, I've left my childhood days well and truly behind, and I recently had my wisdom teeth extracted. Lot of things to go through, and my days just keep getting busier.

But seeing this chapter gave me a huge morale boost.
Transformers Animated will forever be my favorite show, and the show I will proudly claim is the best show ever in the history of television, and it just warms my heart to see that its great legacy will never truly die.
That others, you especially, will continue to carry and pass on the torch and finish what Marty Isenberg started.

Even if the show may never be officially revisited or continued, TF fans at least have your stories.

Thank you for never giving up on us.

And thank you for keeping my hope alive.

PS: And also...
Wow it's been 9 years since you first started this story.
And you're still determined to finish this.
That's persistence and dedication.

And once again, you've made yourself an inspiration to me, and probably countless others, for those of us with our own sagas that we dream of telling.

Thank you for being the example that one should never give up if they have got a good story to tell.

Hooray for an update and boy what a chapter. I was probably shocked about what Megatron did as much as the Autobots and Decepticons but it didn’t feel OOC to me.

That last portion was beautifully written- the idea that Megatron had different last words prepped out is rather amusing; but the actual last words and the events surrounding them became one of the most awesome scenes in this entire series
