I enjoyed this character study! Good job showing Kirk interact with his crew and highlighting his relationship with Spock.

I think I almost chewed a hole through my cheek reading through this one... God this was intense and it was a right mess at the same time... and a reminder why Kirk has always been my favorite Star Trek Captain ever.

I don't know what to say... this fic is so awesome, very well writing, the characters IC... I love how you describe the link between Jim and his crew, Bones and Spock. I love how you show Spock's human part with few words.

Hmmm...I'd never thought about Janice Rand disappearing, but you're right; she was a large character for a few episodes and then just disappeared. I liked the way you handled it.

This...as someone who loves books, it was awesome; as someone who loves that Kirk loves books, this was even better.
And your ending was perfect, mixing humour, relief, and tying it to an earlier part of the story to make it one of the best ways to close the chapter.

When I first finished this, I was overwhelmed with that soothing peace and happiness that comes from reading one of those rare works of fiction, fanfiction or otherwise, that leaves you feeling that you will be coming back to this work and reading it again and again for a long time to come. You know when you want to hug a book? That's the feeling I got from this beautiful story.

I can say with no doubt in my mind that this is, truly and honestly, the very best Star Trek fanfiction I have ever read. After happily going through a few of your other Star Trek fanfictions over the course of a few awesome evenings spent reading and enjoying, I will go a step above and say that in my own personal opinion, I consider your work thoroughly canon with the show. Quite simply, it just doesn't feel like fanfiction. Your incredible level of dedication to detail, character accuracy, and obvious love of Star Trek shines through in the best of ways. That additional warmth and curiosity that can only come from a fanfiction writer, balanced with that careful, positively loving accuracy and respect for the source material, serves to make your stories truly wonderful, and I can only offer my deepest thanks and appreciation for sharing your fond "scribblings" (believe me, they're a heck of a lot more than that!) with the rest of us, and feel very honored and lucky to be able to read and enjoy them!
