you made one major mistake in your story and this regarding the aircraft carriers, and that is that British carriers are simply too small and to feel equipped to handle C-130 aircraft. U.s. Navy aircraft carriers are super carriers and their decks are long enough to accommodate takeoffs and landings of C-130 aircraft. For the British aircraft carrier is nowhere big enough and with their slanted take off deck, a C-130 would simply go up and then come right back down into the drink upon takeoff.
Add to this that C-130 aircraft do not have folding Wing configuration and are incapable of being stored in the hangar deck on a British aircraft carrier for an American one for that matter and you see where there is a need for landing them quickly and taking off very quickly.
Even an amphibious assault ship which is an aircraft carrier about the size of an Essex class carrier of World War II configuration would be ill-equipped for these types of operations.
No, you left out the part where the decks were magically expanded to permit for these type operations!
Please keep in mind that in Essex class carriers flight deck is 900 ft long and that is super carriers Flight Deck is about 1200 feet long on the average.
