Great story. :D I like it!
Skyfullofstars chapter 2 . 3/30/2012
"...But it was the question that followed that threw me. Real lives?

I had once said that "Nothing happens to me." And that was my normal life. I'd come home from Afghanistan to a live less fulfilling and normal than I had before. I'd joined up to escape from everything my life had been before. And I had, and now my placement having ended and being returned to England, it was true, I did miss it. And then there was Sherlock..."

AND THAT SINGLE LINE COULD BE A STORY ALL BY ITSELF...AND THEN THERE WAS SHERLOCK! LOVE THAT LINE!

I was almost glad when Sherlock spotted a cabbie and rushed headlong out the door. I took a moment to follow him, but follow I did, rushing straight into busy city traffic, and off into the night. We ran through back-streets, over buildings, and I always kept Sherlock in sight.."

AND THERE YOU ARE AGAIN, WITH THE GORGEOUS SHORT LINE..."AND I ALWAYS KEPT SHERLOCK IN SIGHT..." YES, JOHN AND YOU ALWAYS WILL, WE HOPE...WE ALL HOPE.

And the last line: Bloody clever bugger...LOL!

"...And the fact that we now stood in the corridor of 221 Baker Street, the place we now called home, laughing breathlessly, hardly aware of our own luck, meant one thing to me.

I didn't want to lose John Watson, not now, not ever..."

Well now THIS is more like it...John didn't leave Sherlock and Sherlock didn't leave John! Loved it and I see it was your first one. You got it 100% "right" out of the box!

Well done, YOU

Hmm. I liked it, don't get me wrong, but there's definite room for improvement on a few counts - one, as a grammar nazi, I urge you to check spellings before you post, or I might just burst a blood vessel. I know, I'm OCD, but I really like this story and I want it to be the best it can!

Also, I see both guys' POV being a lot more fast paced. I haven't quite worked out how to do it yet, but I think Sherlock's mind would be far more analytical and fast and John's would still be fast but would drag over the more human aspects of things. Does that make any sense? It probably doesn't. Ahh well - PM me! xxx

You're most welcome for the first review, and you certainly didn't disappoint with this chapter.

Again, you bring out aspects of the characters that were present in the books, but have often been ignored in cinematic versions of the Holmes stories until this marvellous series. Yes, John is a thrill-seeker with a kind of wild courage (Doyle even said this of him) and you pinpoint exactly what it is about Sherlock that attracts him: the brilliance, the danger, and most touching of all, the trust.

It's brilliant that you've placed this intensely serious reflection in what was a very awkward and funny scene onscreen. You've got John experiencing an epiphany that culminates in my favourite line - the parallel to my favourite line from your previous story: "I took a moment to follow him, but follow I did, rushing straight into busy city traffic, and off into the night. We ran through back-streets, over buildings, and I always kept Sherlock in sight."

Thanks for taking up my request! And while we're at it, the thoughts of Mycroft, Lestrade and Moriarty on this new relationship would be fascinating!

Great story from both characters point of view, you really got into their heads. Well done and thanks for sharing:)

Oh, no, don't stop! Write some more! This is wonderful! All of Sherlock's finely nuanced about John Watson (and particularly Martin Freeman's John Watson) show keen insight into both characters. I could almost hear Cumberbatch's clipped tones here.

I loved many of the descriptions - John's air of confidence and approachability, his careworn face - but most of all this sentence: "But running through the streets of London, calling directions to my constant companion, and the camaraderie… The awareness of him just being there, just knowing he was behind me, following my every move, it was comforting."

Care to do one from the other side, where John observes Sherlock in the same scene? I'd love to see it!
